From what I've seen and heard so far, I'm rooting for Spain to win the World Cup, in spite of their head coaching change 2 days ago. But I reserve the right to change my mind.

I also raised soccer players. Spent many hours in the car and at fields over the years. Loved every minute of it. My minivan has a "Soccer Taxi" bumper sticker. :D

Aww, JayDee, I'm sorry. Yes, the needs of the navy have screwed up a lot of plans over the years. But FL sounds fabu.

Buzzbeck, the Beavers play North Carolina at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. Go Beavers!

NancyJo - Love the burger idea that the restaurant does - how fun!  Thanksgiving in GC - lucky you ;-D

JayDee - well that's a bummer that her chit wasn't approved for Father's Day - that would have been fun - darn Navy lol!

soccermom - glad to hear the new job is going well - and keeping you busy! Nice that you will be able to fit in a visit to GC - enjoy!

Buzzbeck - my nephew graduated from Oregon State - I'm with you - Go Beavers!

Hi all - Happy RED shirt Friday!

Nancy Jo, I tried googling it and cannot find it.  I'll ask my Nuke when she surfaces again and she can probably find a link for me.  Drives me insane as it pops in to my head at the oddest moments.

My Nuke put in a chit to come home for Father's Day but it was denied.  Her dad didn't know as it was going to be a surprise, but I'm so disappointed now.  I was full of plans on how she could surprise him and was really invested in the idea.  Once again, the needs of the Navy. Hopefully she'll get home this fall to see us!  Our oldest daughter surprised me with a mothers day visit (she hid in the dog crate and almost gave me a heart attack).  She won't be home either but we're vacationing in Florida with her and her boyfriend in a couple weeks.

NancyJo - I will keep that in mind. I have been thinking about Thanksgiving in GC - if Big Kid stays there for prototype.

soccermom, welcome back! Your name says it all. LOL JayDee, I call German my mother tongue since I am by heritage 100% Austrian though I can't really speak more than a dozen or so words. I would love to know the words to that song!

Buzzbeck, I live in Omaha! We love our College World Series. The local teams hardly ever get in so people tend to just pick a team and root for it. I know several who have liked the Beavers over the years. Now that I know you are a Beaver fan, I'm on board, Sea Sister! You aren't in town by any chance, are you? The temps will be very high, unfortunately. We're looking at 100* for the next couple days.

There is a restaurant in town that in years past has created a custom hamburger for each of the teams in the College World Series. As teams are eliminated those burgers are off the menu and by the end the winner burger is permanently added to the menu. Over time, of course, if nobody wants to eat it, it's removed but it's a fun thing to do.

I think I'm going to be in GC for Thanksgiving, once I get the green light from my son. If any of you plan on being there then, maybe we can get together. It's a long way off but if it's possible, put me on your radar.

Hi everyone.

I have my red on!!

I have been away from the site for the past 2 months.  I have a new job which has me traveling a lot and very long hours.  So much to do, but love it.  I missed quite a bit of comments.  I finally feel like I have room to breathe and begin reading what's going on here now.

I do want to say a hearty congratulations to all those celebrating events.  NNL - I guess my son and yours will be in the same power school class.

I see all the comments regarding soccer.  I raised a soccer player too.  Lots of travel for that.  He was on a high level team - many, many tournaments in many different states.  I really became quite a fan of international soccer as well. Can't wait to see how things go for the World Cup.  So sad the men's team did not qualify.

I am very excited to say I am going to visit my son in GC in a couple of weeks for the weekend.  He is T Track and waiting for power school to begin, so we thought it would be a good time for us to catch up.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

I can't mix my sports yet, I've got to reserve my energy to root for my beloved Oregon State Beavers as they head to Omaha, for the College World Series. Go Beavs!

LOVE soccer-grew up playing it, married into it and raised 2 goal keepers to boot.  Would have loved to be in Germany to see them win it-that's my old stomping grounds as a military brat.
