Wow, Sherri, I was just thinking about you, noticing you hadn't been around in a while. I'm so sorry to hear this, I will be praying. I'd guess that unless he's had some disciplinary issues in addition to the academic struggles, he will be reassigned no problem, and will probably be much happier. Keep us posted.

I just have to say Skype is the best invention ever!  My son has been in Goosecreek about 6 weeks and today was the first time we have talked to him over Skype and it sure makes a difference when you can see them as you talk to them.  It sure made us feel more connected to him.  If you haven't used it give it a try.  :)
Comment by Sherri_M on July 9, 2011 at 7:34pm

hey all,

I talked to my sailor today...and bad news...he failed his second class this week, so review board on Monday to determine his fate.  We are really nervous about this cause this could very well end his Navy career.  He went in to be a Nuke...but if I'd known then what I know now..probably would have had him go different route.  He's a very smart kid, but going to such a small HS, he didn't have any higher math, physics, etc.  He had trig.  and that's it.  While he did great in many of his classes, the math classes killed him....he made it through the physics, but the math was too  advanced for him.

I'm hoping and praying he gets reassigned on Monday, just so nervous right now.   Would hate for him to be discharged and lose any kind of future he could have with the Navy.  Please pray for him if you don't mind!  WIll keep you all updated.

Kat - my boyfriend said the same thing....said his room was starting to get pretty hot with the AC being off for so long!

Thanks everyone, I am feeling quite contented. All is right again in this momma's world for a little while. We haven't seen him since Christmas...

Mary, no kidding. Tonight, chicken fettucini alfredo; tomorrow, dad's tacos & homemade tortillas with all the fixin's; the week goes on with spaghetti, steak & artichokes (this was his one request), brownies, all the favs. No, I'm not going to spoil him rotten...

My son called about a half hour ago saying the power just went out in Goose Creek and that they are having the worst storm he's seen in the 8 months he's been there.

Congrats nvmomma!  I have a long stretch before I see my sailor again.  Five hours after Basic just wasn't long enough to hold me over. :(
