Hi, our Sailor graduated 1/21 and shipped out to A School 1/25. Hasn't started classes yet, trying to get used to idle time, after bootcamp.  Anxious to start classes.  Anyother moms with Nuke's shipped out 1/25?

Is there anyone on here who's son got to Goose Creek about 2 weeks ago, from New Jersey?  If so, he's my son's room mate. Sounds like they are getting along great.  My son has been sharing his computer with your son and sharing my Netflix account :) since your son's classes don't start until this coming monday.

Took a break this evening and went out to dinner and then to see Lord of the Dance, LIVE.  Great show.

Hi all,I thought I read somewhere on our site about someone finding flash cards that helped their sailor with his studies.  Was it here or a different group? My sailor arrived at GC Jan 8.  has started A school and is an MM. He said they graduate A school April 22. class 1116.

Thanks Colleen- But Prom is definitely out.. It's April 16th and Power School comps will be that next Tuesday since they grad. the 22nd. He could make a day trip of it... Study hours early Saturday morning, Fly home, Prom, fly home late saturday night or early Sunday morning, more study hours Sunday afternoon/evening... But he thinks getting an extended liberty for it would be impossible, and I refuse to kidnap (literally) him from the Navy. I would not want to be the responsible one for him going AWOL. Not good.

And Mark- That's just what Aaron keeps referring to the Widow Maker as... :/

swim remind me again how long he was in DEP?  Yes we plan on seeing our son in September, of course we are going to the PIR.  And my son is going to be so happy, everyone on the list will be there, now just have to get the tickets lined up.
Comment by swim4life on January 29, 2011 at 10:14pm

thanks for the advice, and the link...it was really helpful.  I'm hoping they wait until after A school..either 3 or 6 months.

I'll just be happy 4 him to get through BC.  this DEP has been way too long

for everyone....

kat9PIR11/5 MM class1107B,   My son is only half way through Power School.  He graduates on Good Friday, 22 APR.  He said he thought MERO was the hardest subject they would be having.  It was the class he got the lowest grade in.

Aaron's girl,  He may be able to make prom or grad.  Depends on work schedule and if his 4 days off coincide with the dates of your activity.  I hope he can make at least one of them!  I'll keep my finger crossed for ya.

Kat I was unaware they had scored test during basic, thanks, while I didn't do Navy Boot I did do Army  Boot.   also, yea I totally think he needs to check on that, lets hope they say yes.

I guess Widow Maker signifies that it take a lot of time to study?

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on January 29, 2011 at 8:01pm

Today my son said they were told they have 10 days off right after A school graduation.  Does anyone know if they would be able to trade those days to take the time off two weeks later?  That's when we will be going to visit and it would be nice if he could be off while we are there rather than sitting around for 10 days with nothing to do.  I guess he could come home if the airfare is cheap enough, but he has to find out how much he owes on taxes first.

He said he is going to ask his PO on Monday and maybe because he is doing good and has a decent average grade the PO will let him trade dates.
