Well, I'm just a busybody right now ... have to add another suggestion for a goodie box for our sailors. "Cheryl's Cookies" has a special running online for a sampler box, 6 gourmet cookies for $6.95. Now I know you could make a homemade batch of dozens for that, but ... these are yummy (my clients have sent them to me sometimes). Individually wrapped. The cookies are free, it's the p&h that costs the $6.95. Postage for homemade cookies would cost that much, I figure, so what the hey, I ordered one sampler to be sent to my son as a nice little Valentine's treat.

Kris, I saw the story about the "hickey" too, only I remember the person was partially paralyzed from it. Geez, one more thing we parents have to warn our kids about ... along with no running with scissors, no touching your tongue to frozen metal, now we have to add, no love bites!

Coming late to the party here, but RE: Hickory Farms goodies ... I read the post on N4Ms and tried it last night, put FPO (Fleet Post Office, the Navy version of APO) and typed Charleston on the same line where the 101 NNPTC Circle street address went. At checkout, the address will come up looking a little odd, but the key thing is that the 29445 zip code is right, so hopefully the package will ship OK to GC and my sailor. Great deals: $6.50 for a cheese ball/cracker/sausage combo box (reg. $24) and $6.50 for a box of mixed nuts, total of $13 with no shipping ... and a place to put your free message (I said, for you and your buddies to watch the Super Bowl!) They only offered 3 things at the 75% off discount with free military shipping, but that's fine, the 3d item (which I didn't get but should have) was some kind of spiced almonds, I think.

Thanks everyone! And those kids think they are pulling one over on us - lol

Susan congrats & enjoy your sons visit, my supervisors son is in the AF & also going to Japan.

Kind of funny I was skimming through & sw the question aobut Hickory Farms but I misread it & thought it said Hickey - then I wondered did anyone else see the article about the woman who got a hickey & it caused her to have a stroke?  it had to do with the clotting...ew

Congrats Susan - you must be so relieved to be through this whole training process.  As stressed as we may get about this phase of their military lives, I'm sure being stationed in Japan brings a whole new level of worry.  Enjoy your time with him now, and the best of luck to both of you.  Hope you continue to check in and share your experiences with us!!

Wow Susan, it has been a long road for you, I'm glad its done and you get to see your Salior.

I don't think I will have a problem with my son drinking, he has been very resposible about it.  He was at a party right before he left with his Fiancee, and at about 11pm is when the beer and stuff started to arrive, I was surprised to hear the door open at about 11:20, as I thought they were staying out until 1am.  I asked him the next morning, why they had gotten home early and he told me the people started brining in beer and I didnt want to be around it, as I didn't want to be guilty by assoication if cops showed up, plus I didn't want (his fiancee) around it.  I ^5'ed him and said WTG son.

oops that was supposed to be - 2 'of' the 3 sailors.

Enjoy seeing your son Susan and good luck to him.

2 or the 3 sailors in my son's Power School section that are out of the program got in trouble for drinking - one was underage and the other for DUI.  I know my son loves his beer, but we keep reminding him that he can't drink and drive and he says he knows because he doesn't want to get kicked out for something that stupid.
