ShipOfDoodles - After my son's A school graduation two years ago March, he was only given a 3 day liberty (their leave time had supposedly been meshed with their stand down time at Chirstmas - never figured that one out, but that was our experience.) So, Friday was considered still a working day for him and he had to stay within close proximity to NNPTC if something came up, but was also told, he was free to spend time with the family. His liberty was actually for S,S,M which was hard because I had planned to be back on the road by Monday morning, so a slight adjustment, and we spent the morning, his brother and I doing some bowling at the Base Bowling alley across the way, because we had to be checked out of the motel room, but he did not want us to leave.

Hi all - Happy Monday!

ShipOfDoodles - when B graduated A school he had leave right away.  But this was back in 2013 so don't know if things have changed since then....

Sad news in the sports world with the passing of Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter and 7 of their friends in a helicopter crash yesterday. A reminder to not take life for granted :(

Good morning, everyone. I was wondering if anyone having a recent A-School graduate would know if the leave granted following A-School commences after the ceremony, or if they typically might have to remain on base through Saturday?  Thanks for any advice!

The gate situation turned out to be an "unauthorized entry by an employee who failed to follow directions of the gate sentry".  Everything is good now!

They located the vehicle in question and everything seems to be back to normal.  PIR was delayed about an hour.  Thank goodness it wasn't anything more serious!

The Facebook page says a vehicle that didn't show credentials passed through the gates about 7:00 this morning and they are lockdown until they locate that vehicle.

Comment by The Hammer on January 24, 2020 at 11:00am

So Great Lakes is on lockdown right now. I feel for the Boot Camp moms who have PIR today. They delayed by one hour.
