Hi, everyone. Checking in here as well. Sorry I've been absent for quite a while.

Son is doing well in CHS. He graduated Power School at the beginning of August and started Prototype 10 days later. He is doing really well and enjoying life there. He and three buddies rented an apartment while they go through Prototype together and all seems to be well so far. The evac was a hurrication for them, and three of them plus another Sailor friend took off to Nashville for their evacuation time. It was the first time he had driven more than 15 miles from "home" and his first time driving on an Interstate. It ended up being a road trip with quite a few new experiences for him (including dealing with serious car troubles for one in their caravan).

My youngest daughter was planning on entering the Navy and went through MEPS during High School. Her intent was to join the DEP, but some further medical evaluations ended up stalling the process and she changed her mind in the interim. She graduated high school in May and ended up moving to her dads at the end of July. She is doing well there and ended up with a full time job a week after she arrived!

The husband and I are now empty nesters, and I am doing well with the kids being gone (so far). We are snowbirds, and so the last of the kids being gone won't feel real until we return to the home we live in when the kids are in school. It just feels like the kids are all gone for their usual summer vacation with dad right now, while we spend our summer up north away from southern scorching temps. We are currently doing some house renovation, so life is a bit chaotic while construction is going on. I look forward to reading what everyone else has been up to!

Checking in from Oregon. Thanks to all who have expressed support and care for me after my post yesterday. You have no idea how much it means to me. I'm struggling, but thankfully I have y'all, and a good health care team looking after me.

My sailor started kindergarten the day after the 9-11 attacks. I often wonder if that influenced his deep conviction that he wanted and needed to serve his country.

He enlisted in Jan 2015, completed the nuke pipeline, and is now in STA-21, finishing his last year in college. I couldn't be more proud of him and what he has already achieved in the Navy. I am both eager and worried about what happens after graduation and commissioning. He is hoping to land on the west coast. We'll see what "needs of the Navy" brings.

Hello! Checking in from Kansas City. My son just finished Prototype in August and is now a Junior Staff Instructor at NPTU. I don’t comment much but really enjoy reading all the post.

Hello everyone checking in as well. I have had so much going on. As some of you know I had 2 going in the Navy. I just have 1 now and that's ok. The 1 son that is still in has gotten married and he is overseas. I got my last 2 graduated from high school. My youngest son is going to be a father on this coming Friday on his own birthday. So accept my apology for not being active. I promised myself and you guys I will try and be more active. Oh yeah my 44 year old behind is headed back to college. I will check back in on friday and let you guys know about my first gbaby.

Hi All - checking in as well.  My son graduated prototype in June and is already out somewhere in a sub (boat).  I haven't heard from him in about a month and I'm not sure when I should expect to.  Thanks for all the invaluable support here!!

Checking in from Minnesota.  Even though I do not comment much in the past 2 years my son has made it thru the pipeline and your stories have kept me sane!!  He is on his first deployment and surprised us by STAR re-enlisting for another 2 years.  He loves where he is and loves the Navy now that he is out of school.  I wish he loved his rating but maybe as he is getting to know his job better he will.

Checking in from Wisconsin.  My nuke has completed 4 years of his commitment.  He decided almost 2 year ago to add another 2 to his already commitment of 6 year.  He still enjoys navy life and is currently underway to a different port.  He was in San Diego but his boat is now being moved to Norfolk.  Bittersweet for him as he really loved San Diego.  He is young and will adjust.

I don't share often but I appreciate and read all entries.

Today is rather melancholy as I think about the significance of this day and how all our lives have been changed forever.  Never Forget!

Checking in from Massachusetts. My nuke has power school comps on October 1st. He called us yesterday to say that there would be no graduation because it got pushed out due to the hurricane and that made a change in command so there was no time for graduation. Prototype begins on either October 10th or 14th. He’s ready for the change.

partnerinwine - it's probable they're going to be in the same class. My sailor hasn't said when exactly they start back up. Our guy has had a few bumps in the road, so we don't plan on much lol. We'll have to keep each other posted : )

Checking in from Florida. Hello to all the Navy/Nuke moms. My sailor is currently in Prototype. Had a quick visit over Labor day before hurricane evacuation!
