Happy Earth Day!

Chipmunk - My sailor is in PS... with planned grad date of 6/7. We talk about once a week and it seems that lately they are all stressing as the material is getting more intense. He's looking at houses and apartments with a bunch of his friends and just buckling down. We have planned a nice trip out for graduation and rented a beach house on Folly beach... can't wait! Your post just struck home with me as I try not to think about how much I miss him (still brings tears to my eyes every time). The main thing that this site has taught me is that everyone goes thru the same and to be as supportive as we can... and I am very grateful!

Happy Monday!

Chipmunk - sounds like you had a wonderful time with your son! Now he's ready for the fleet ;-D  Is he getting 30 days leave?

I love all the restaurant suggestions - I swear my hubby and I are going to have to plan another trip to Charleston so we can visit some more of these places.

SuzyQ - when is your son's PIR?

The Hammer - Thank you!! Up to this point, I have had my emotional guard up - "he is just in school" - and I could treat it as if my kids were just off to college. Now, it gets real!!

How is your sailor? - I have lost track of where he is at in the entire process.

Chipmunk... I can totally relate to having a hard time saying goodbye. Hang in there mama!!!

Going through the Smokey Mtns. in the dark was not my plan when we decided to take the northern scenic route home!! But it was good to attend Easter service with our sailor and eat lunch. He just didn't have the same sense of urgency for us to get on the road as we did, so packing some of his items to bring home took a little longer. And saying good bye might be easier in one way, but it seems like it is getting harder for this mom.

I totally forgot to mention Madra Rua Irish Pub in Summerville - traditional Irish food!

Also recommend visiting Fort Moultrie - have to walk the trails that take you on to the beach! If your sailor shows their CAT card they will receive a card that’s good for one year and entitles them and 3 friends (one car load) free entry to any National Park.

Dorchester Historic Site is very pretty as well.

partnerinwine- the walls at Poe’s Tavern are covered with artwork, movie posters, etc. the women’s bathroom is wallpapered with pages of his poems. Very eclectic!!

We have a low but larger size coffee table w/ glass insets that we bought at a thrift store for my sailor's prototype apartment. They did not have a dining table. The intention was for this to serve as an eating table as well. And I was going to have them just donate back to the thrift store. That has since closed - so if anyone is interested send me a PM and I will contact my sailor.

Thanks for the recommendations SubMom! I follow Poe's Tavern on Instagram and it is one of the places we'd like to go while we're there in June. I'll check out the others too :)

Happy Easter everyone!
