OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to all Anticipating PIR 10/7/2011!!

This group is for those with loved ones who had PIR on 10/07/2011. (PIR is short for Pass-in-Review and just means graduate from Boot Camp.)

It was an amazing ceremony, an amazing opportunity to see our Sailors perform and participate as an entire group, amazing to hear that wonderful Liberty call and completely overwhelming to get those long awaited hugs.

It is our desire that this Group will provide the information, encouragement, and support you need while your loved one continues their Navy Journey. We are hoping you will continue to come back and update everyone on that journey and continue to seek support and encouragement from friends you have already made here.

Enjoy your time here and feel free to Comment and join in the Discussions. Be sure to check out the information in the "Pages" section to the right. This is information that will be of interest to all Members. (You will need to click on "View All" to see all of them.)

My time here is done.

Comment by Concernedad on August 17, 2016 at 12:44pm: Pretty sad. Every year he leaves home on my birthday. I'll be glad to have him back home permanently. I keep reminding him of the benefits of serving that he will see in his future.

He's been on 2 deployments and is hoping to get back stateside next year. He re-upped for another 2 1/2 years so we have about 4 more years to go. August 10, 2011 was the day he left for Great Lakes. Seems like a lifetime ago!!!!

He's currently home on leave, an ET2 and with about one year to go, he's ready to get out. Guess he won't be re-upping. Man it has seemed like a long journey. Anyone out there still have sailors in, or did their sailor do four years and out?

He's supposed to be out on a six month deployment starting sometime this month and won't be back home until June 2014. It's hard to believe that PIR was just 2 short years ago and all the changes that have followed that amazing day. Hope everyone has great holidays!

Comment by Mary...Brittsmom on October 23, 2013 at 12:54pm: Hello all!!!! My daughter has been in Bahrain since January 2012, she is just finihing up her 30 day leave. It has been so wonderful having her home for this time.

She will return to Bahrain for 4 months then in February will be stationed in Everette Wa. Just a short 3 hour drive from home.

This mom could not be happier.

His ship is due to become decommished in January 2013. My son has verbal orders that he will be assigned to a mine sweeper in San Diego. We will see what happens.

Comment by Concernedad on September 12, 2012 at 12:48pm: Hey! Can't believe this thread is still active. I just came by to see if there was any reason not to delete it, but here you all are. Considering this is where it all started, it's pretty cool to see where everyone ended up. I'm sure my son would love to know whose mom is whose.

Anyway, the one good thing about my son leaving on my birthday is, now he doesn't forget it. He actually thought to call me, which is rare in itself.

He finished up A School at GL back in July and has been spending a lot of time on hold. He's currently in San Diego with spare time, so volunteered to do an additional C School while waiting. He will be on an MCM after C School, which is in Bahrain, but has recently learned, by the time he's done with C School, his ship will be back in San Diego, so I was glad to hear that.

Anyway, glad to hear about your own sailors. It's interesting considering everyone headed out in different directions.

How sad for your son that this happened and he is forced to end his Navy career. I pray he will look back on the experience with a happy heart and treasured memories of his fellow sailors. I hope he finds a new path in life that also provides satisfaction and happiness.

You have been so important and supportive of all of us. Your willingness to set up our pages and help us all be connected was so critical when we were all new Navy moms struggling to get through each day. Like you, I can't believe it's been a year already. It makes me happy the way God brings people into our lives when we most need them, and you were one of those people for many of us that visit these pages. God bless you for all you have done.

Our prayers are with you and your family. I trust you will be blessed with blessings that overtake you.
