Travel safe everyone. See you at Sarge's! Just 2 days....Go with God all....

safe travels to everyone. flying to midway in the morning =] cant wait.

All I can say is WOW! PIR was awesome!!! I thought I was a proud mom when my sailor graduated from college, but there is no comparison to the proud I felt on Friday. All I could say to him at first was that GOD and I did a good job in raising him (smile.)

I wish I could have made it to Sarge's Meet and Greet to personally get to know you all. I looked into the sea of faces of Division 069's love ones, and wondered which ones you might be...the ladies I cyber bonded with these past weeks.

Chizzledee- I can not believe that we ended up sitting next to each other. I am so glad I recognized you from your picture. I wish you much blessings in completing your degree at Temple. Best wishes to you and your sailor. And, yes, my son does know your sailor.

FTLW - thank you so much for your wonderful information.

Georgia Mom - thank you for friending me on this site. That pushed me into this century.

Celeste - thank you for scoping out the other divisions and gathering intelligence for us.

Iowa Mom - I can not thank you enough for starting Division 069's discussion group. You will never know how many times this group brought me a source of comfort.

May GOD continuously bless our sailors. May HE give them grace and favor, as they begin their next step on the Navy journey.

GOD'S Speed.

Bernice (la/wa7)

I agree the PIR was wonderful!!!  There must be another Bernice in the group because I thought I had met you at Sarge's haha!!!

IowaMom and myself were on the very top/back row of the bleaches.  We were one of the first groups to arrive.

It was wonderful meeting some of the mothers, girlfriends, wives and families.  AND our sailors were an amazing group and seems like they have bonded really well as well as making lifetime friendships.

Thanks to the RDCs for their commitment and dedication too!!! <and yes we know you are peeking>

My son said he enjoyed bootcamp thoroughly and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.  I said can you do it again and that way I wouldn't be stressing the way I have knowing that you are enjoying it LOL!!!!

He is now settling in Charleston, SC and awaiting to start Nuke School.

We got to see them off at the airport and they seem to be a great group of sailors!!

Good Luck to all your sailors ~~ we are very proud of each and everyone of them!!!

Christine

We (daughter-in-law and I) too were in the first group to arrive. As a matter of fact, we were about the fourth and fifth to go through one of the doors. We sat on the very first step in front of our Division...right in front of the opening where the Divisions entered. I am African American and my daughter-in-law is Japanese.

We got to spend all Saturday with our Sailor. He was due to fly out of O'Hare, but was changed to Midway. We flew in and out of Midway. Our plane left at 6pm, and they flew out at 6:45pm. The USO was just around from the gate we were departing, so he watched us board to leave. Everything was just perfect. I told my son that was GOD's way of showing him how proud HE is of him. I could not have planned things better myself, and I had not even prayed for such a blessing. It sure feels good when GOD gives you those little unexpected blessings!!!

Christine-I am glad your son is all settled in. Yes, there are at least two Bernices in Division 069. I remember reading a post from another Bernice. Too bad I did not get to meet you as well. Both my parents were from Georgia. My dad from Augusta and mom from Savannah. As a child, I spent many summers in Georgia. They moved to Florida where my siblings and I were born, and raised.

My son is in Pensacola. ATO is his rate (job, right? I am still learning terminology.). We have not heard from him as of yet, today. He is probably still sleeping. He had a bad cold.

Yes, (I echo Christine's sentiments when she said)..THANK YOU, RDCs!

Bernice (la/wa7)

I see you now on my photographs!!!  Did you sit near Jasmine and Anna?

Well ladies, I can not thank you enough for walking these steps with me for the last 2 months. PIR was so incredible that it will forever stay in my mind and heart. I could not have been more proud or humbled by the new Sailors and the RDCs who have brought them to a place where they are today. When that huge door lifted it literally took my breath away and the tears just flowed. They all looked so amazing and proud...My family and I got to spend Saturday at the airport with my son before he and his Corpsman brothers boarded the plane. They all seem so comfortable with each other and bonded like brothers. Knowing they will continue this journey together will make it easier for them all. I am sorry I did not get to meet you all face-to-face...everything happened so quickly it seems in retrospect.

Have heard from my son. He landed safe and sound but I am sure the next few days will be crazy until they settle into a routine again. At least I am hopeful that now we will be able to keep in contact more regularly. Those long dry spells are tough on a mom! So happy for you all ladies. You all deserve the mighty blessings God has given us all. It was the very best of days. Good luck and smooth sailing to all of your Sailors.
