OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

You are very welcome, Momof9!  Here's hoping for nothing but the best for your new sailor!
Leaving this group now....blessings to all of the sailors!

Momof9,

You're so very welcome!!

I do hope your new Sailor has his eyes on the prize--an awesome Navy career!!  It is sad, but so many new Sailors lose sight of that because of their newfound freedom and the money to blow on it.  Breaking the rules at A school means losing everything one has worked hard for thus far.  There is much more blessings to be had on the Navy journey~~

Thank you admins for all you did to help us prepare for PIR. I can't imagine having tried to attend without all the info you all shared! It truly was a blessing. It was awesome to see my sailor. The whole family enjoyed it! Even got to slip in a surprise b-day party for his dad on Fri. So proud of my boy. Enjoying the calls now that he is at A school! I hope he doesn't enjoy the freedom so much he doesn't get the things done he needs to do for qualifications. :o) What a wild ride BC was and I can' t thank you all for the support, encouragement, and information. Your time and dedication is so worth it. You all are invaluable to newbie navy moms,gf,wives, etc. Blessings, Momof9
