~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Jamie did she have a change in PIR date because of being SIQ? If so and you received the first form letter with a password the PAO office will give you the new password if you tell them what happened and give them the old password. You can always take a shuttle if you don't get the gate pass but no matter what make sure she takes care of updating that list to get you all on it. That is the most important thing.

All of my animal loving friends please say a prayer for our Poochie, He was bitten by a Copperhead and is at the vet now. We are waiting to hear what they say. Thanks so much.

aileen:  The recruiters will not know the passwords.

Just remember, ladies, that if you are taking the shuttle from the hotel to/from PIR, you don't need the gate pass.  However, if you are driving that evening to return your sailor to RTC, and you want to drive on base, you will need the pass.  Otherwise you have to drop off at the front gate and they walk a little further.

Jamie30024 I spoke to my son who said the week of battle stations they give the final names. You can get the password from them when they call to say I'm a sailor. you can also call her recruiter and he can help you navigate some of this

jaime:  The PAO will not give you the password.  They will tell you it has to come from your SR.   I would write her again and tell her to please ask a shipmate what the password is and send it to you. Be sure to put that on your list of things to ask when she makes the I'm a Sailor call in case she doesn't get back to you.

Okay seeing that the gate passes for PIR 5/31 have been posted I am REALLY stressing now.  The last time I talked to my daughter she was trying to get the Form Letter for our names on it (or to put our names on a list) and get the gate pass.  The last letters I received from her she had mentioned it to RDC's and they were "Looking into it".  What am I supposed to do?  I am looking at possibly 2 or 3 more letters from her.  Do I need to call the Public Affairs office and explain to them that she was SIQ and we still do not have a form letter or gate pass information?  That my last communication with her she still had not had the opportunity to put our names on a list.  What if she is on Watch when they have the opportunity to update the lists?  As you can see I am really freaking out to the point that I have just written her to tell her that she MUST get this taken care of.  I cannot even verbalize what a raging maniac I would be if I got there and could not get in and I do NOT leave things like that to chance.  So any suggestions as to what I need to do to get this taken care of would be greatly appreciated.

Amen, navymom.  I have a friend whose son (friend of my son) lives just 10 miles from Moore.  We are thankful that he is ok.  Tragedies like this one are so so extensive that it is hard to wrap our heads around them...we have to cling to the stories of survival and sacrifice....During times of deep tragedy like this one, there are stories that will come out that renew your hope in mankind....prayers are wrapped around all of those who have been affected by these tornadoes and we pray for protection for all in future weather conditions....

Good Morning!
