NavyTurtle:   The first time I watched the DVD, it became pixely and had freeze frames mostly toward the end.  I watched the end again and it wasn't too bad.  Then watched it again and it had freeze frames.  I didn't know if it was my DVD player, since we don't use it that much.

Hi Everyone! Hope your sailor is doing well! Mine is in her second week of Aircrew Candidate School. Question: Did anyone else receive a defective graduation dvd?

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! I love being able to talk to my daughter !

Hi Jumanji!  My son called me last night and we talked for about 45 minutes.  He's not a talker, so this was probably our longest conversation since PIR weekend!  He sounds so good!  He finally classed up and had his first day yesterday.  He was super excited and said they already had homework and things to study.  He got rolled back a week, so the group he went down with are a week ahead, except for him and a few others.  He sounds so mature and sure of himself.  He has big plans for his future.  He is going to try to get into officer training and finish his degree. Just a world of difference where he was emotionally a year ago!! I am so happy and relieved!

I hope every one is doing okay and that you are all enjoying the rest of your summer and that your sailor's are doing awesome as well!!!!  God bless!

Great update!  My son just texted me that ne had his first day of school today!  I was expecting it to start on a Monday so I was a bit surprised. LOL

He is very excited and going to call me after Chow to tell me all about it.  Can't wait!

Nice to continue to read the updates since our Sailors have survived boot camp! My son is at Corry Station (Pensacola, Fl) which is close to home. We have been fortunate to visit with him on the weekends. He is moving into his barracks tomorrow and classes up on Thursday! Things are moving a little quicker than I'd like. I asked him if he had an address yet (I also miss the letter writing!). Sounds like everyone is adjusting well to this next chapter of Navy life!

Christine, my son is in South Carolina.  I'm just going to Gurnee to shop!  I hadn't been there in ages and saw the Banana Republic Outlet, Gap outlet and a couple of other stores that I really wanted to check out but didn't want to drag everyone in with me!!

Did everyone hear about the Navy Seabe who was killed in Phoenix.  It would be great to support this Navy mom by leaving a comment of support on her blog. She has had 458 views but only 29 comments.  http://navyformoms.com/profiles/blogs/i-have-lost-my-son?id=1971797...

Hello Ladies!  I agree it is great to see some updates. I was Rueben James previously.  I can't believe it's been a week already since I last saw my son.  It feels a lot longer than that but I am thankful we can text and talk on the phone.

He is currently in A school in GL.  I had my first phone call from him last night.  I am very fortunate that both of my boys are big communicators. We talked for almost an hour.  He says he is still on hold and hopes to start his schooling in another week.  He loves all the new people he is meeting and has nothing but good things to say about his experience.  He is very happy.  My boy is growing up.  He spends his time working out, going to the library and catching up online.  He said a group of them went around the entire base looking for volunteer work and when they finally got to their last few stops they found out you could sign up online. LOL  But, he said it was a lot of fun just getting to meet all the new people.  We are hoping he gets assigned to school during the day and not the evening group.

I am a little concerned because during boot camp he came down with that bad virus/pneumonia that was going around.  He ended up with an infection and Medical gave him some antibiotics.  He said he took them for 2 days and then read the side effects listed on the bottle, one of which was tendonitis.  He was afraid that he might get tendonitis and it would impact his performance in boot camp so he through them down the toilet. OMG   He is again coming down sick with the same thing and does not want to go to Medical.  I am not sure why nor do I know how to counsel him. :(

He wanted to go to church today but the 936 unit from RTC were planning on going to a White Sox Game  and to breakfast at Wildberry.

Elizabeth Nuke mama...I hear you are going to the Gurnee mall.  Are you able to meet your son/daughter?  My son said he could go to the mall on the weekend; he just needed to take buddy.

Hi Ladies!  Glad to see some updates here.  My son is in Charleston (Goose Creek) and so far loves the city.  They were out and about yesterday and he got a new phone.  He kept having dropped calls and missing texts.  So hopefully that is resolved now.  He is roommates with one of the guys from his division.  I also saw yesterday he friend requested a bunch of people from DIV 219 as well as some new friends in the nukes.

Last weekend for me was a real turning point.  I actually saw him as a young man.  He was confident and happy and determined.  He also said some of the sweetest things that a mom would ever want to hear.  Like when I came down the bleacher stairs to hug him.  He said it was a moment he will never forget!  I KNOW!  What a sweet boy!

I'm so glad to still have this group though.  I would love to continue this journey here with you.  To find out what becomes of all of our kids will be so exciting.

Jumanji, I am actually thinking about heading over to GL area in a couple of weeks to do some shopping at the Gurnee mall.  If your girl needs anything that I can help with let me know.

Leemarkop & Jumanji:  I miss the updates!!  We all lived and breathed boot camp for so long and now................ it is nice that we can "chat" with our sailors now, even if the "boys" are a little less chattier!  Just that fact that I know that I can send a text and have a response within a "reasonable" time just makes me happy.  So glad they are adjusting to their new lives.  My son was assigned to his ship and we have heard the news that he will soon be deployed.  I have to say that I was a little more than surprised that it would happen so soon.  I thought I was going to have more time to adjust to him just being gone at his duty station.  I guess these are the ways of the undesignated PACT sailors.

Miss all of you ladies and hope that we are able to keep up with each other as they move through their Navy years.
