loved ones are in Rota Spain
Latest Activity: Dec 1
This group does not have any discussions yet.
I joined Navy4Moms about 7 yrs ago when my pictured son was in the navyI started tis group about 4 yrs ago when my second son was a marine deployed to Rota.
Now, sailor has been out about 2 yrs and my marine has been out about six months and is about to re-enlist into the army.
So I am guessing I should pass the administrative torch, but I have no idea how to do this. Help?
We leave on Wednesday and will be in Rota on Friday. We are staying at Steves apartment. Yeah
One month to go before we leave. Yeah for us the Naval Ball will take place while we are there. I'm excited
Hi CJ's mom I think it's okay to say, He is one of the chiefs of guards. Harbor patrol. He has housing off base and we shall stay with him. why don't we stay in touch via email. I'm excited about the trip never been to Spain. Good for you sailor he re-enlisted. the job market is so tough now. By the way Rota is a beautiful place.
janieflorida ... I see from your post of July 6th, that you will be going to Rota, Spain soon. I would love to hear how you like it over there. My husband and I are contemplating a trip, maybe next year. My son has found a place to live and his wife is trying to get all her paperwork readied so that she may be with him as soon as she can.
Am I allowed to ask what type of work your son does? I do not want to cause any problems, so I don't want to say too much. My son spent his first 5 years on the USS Makin Island stationed in San Diego. He spent some time in Bahrain, but that was just a temporary assignment. He re-enlisted when his time was up, so now he has shore duty. Although this isn't his first time away from home, it will be the first time for so long. Maybe our sons will cross paths at some point.
Hope to hear from you!
Our son just got married a couple of weeks ago. He will be leaving for Rota very soon. His wife will remain behind until the proper paperwork is finished. We are excited, but nervous, for both of them. May need help getting through this!!!
3 months to go before we leave for Rota. Getting excited. I think the Naval Ball will be taking place when we are there. Navy anniversary is October 13. I'm hoping.
I am new to this forum. Our son had been stationed in San Diego, on an aircraft carrier until March. When he re-enlisted, he received orders for Rota, Spain. He will be heading for Rota, Spain within the next few weeks. He is excited, and while his father and I are excited for him, this will also be the first time he will be out of the country for more than 9 months. We will try to visit at some point, but will have to wait awhile.
Thanks for the info, thankful45!
Interesting that you mention knowing the detailer or having connections...
Last week at the gym I met a recently retired Navy Counselor and he offered to help in any way he could. Would it be bad form to ask him to make a connection for my husband so we could get Rota if there are jobs available there?
And is there any way for us to see the open jobs before he finishes school? I know that once he's in the fleet, at some point he can log in the "jobs database" (I don't know the Navy name for it yet) to see where there are openings. Do you know when that access comes?
Thanks!! SO hoping for Spain!!!
