Susan J is taking some time off to catch up... So I am updating the rescue list for now! To be added to the list send me (Susan mom to Niko) a friend request. Then you can send me a private message with your name, location and phone number. Then you are added to the list!

Thanks to the many moms and more that have volunteered their names on the rescue list! It is amazing to know that no matter where our sailors travel in the United States there is a mom there ready to rescue them with a hot meal, place to stay, or help to get back on the road!

My sailor son, his wife and 2 daughters (ages 3yr. and 4mo) will have an 11 hour layover in New York at Laguardia.  They don't have $ for hotel and plan to just rest/sleep in the airport.  Anyone that knows anything about Laguardia airport that could help me let them know a safe place for them to spend the 11 hour layover that won't cost them a lot of money?  Sure do wish they had an USO at Laguardia.

Good News!  (CNN) -- Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier held captive for nearly five years by militants during the Afghanistan war, has been released.

I'm glad it all worked out.

He was driving from Washington DC to Norfolk on I-95, and there are some long stretches of nothing but woods in between exits as you go farther south.  Even though he had USAA insurance with towing, I also gave him an AAA membership one Christmas and kept it up, figuring the extra peace of mind was worth it.  He'd bought the car recently and the spare wasn't good so he needed towing.  AAA came right out and he got the car to a Walmart - the nearest tire place - and all was ok.  AAA is so cheap and it's so reliable.  I think it makes a good birthday or Christmas gift :)

Kathy, I'm relieved tight there with  you because I've been there/done that with my own sailor!  I'm so glad you've joined this group, it really brings home how we are all connected as part of the Navy family.  Welcome!

Marcy - Thank you for mentioning this site recently regarding a stranded sailor. LIve and learn -   My Sailor was meeting family @ Snowshoe for skiing Fri nite.  Truck dies near Charlottesville.  Does have USAA to come tow.  Driver knows exactly what and who to take it to for repair.  Once there, they even call cab to take sailor to airport to rent a car.  Now I have no details- geesz.  But I am "hopefully" so thankful for kind folks AND son's ability to handle this with a little help from Dad and the internet (I reminded him about USAA) - LOL!
