Hi ILoveMySailor, I visited my son last Spring Break for a week. You don't have to have a visa if you are a U.S. Citizen to visit most of countries in Europe including Italy. I hope I answer your question.

Has anyone visited their sailor in Naples on a tourist visa for three months? I read you don't have to have a visa and you can stay no more than 90 days.

Hi Folks!  Guess what?

He is back on track for Italy!  So I'm back in the group!

Can anyone tell me about Gaeta Italy? I've been trying to find information about the base. Since it's a base connected to Naples, all I find is Naples information.

Well folks, this was a short lived membership to the Naples, Italy group.

(sigh) Needs of the Navy.  My son is needed elsewhere so there has been a change.  Italy is not his next duty station.  UGH!

I'm sure he will be there sometime soon.  I think that I'll visit Italy even without him being stationed there.  When I do I will give a shout out that the crazy Chicagoan is in town!

I hope to re-connect with you all sometime in the near future!  Ciao!

Hello all!

My sailor just told me that it looks like he will be heading to Naples in the Summer for a 3 year assignment!

I'm saving my pennies now!

My son arrived in Naples Feb 2013. He has loved living there! My daughter and I went to visit him last month and had the best time!! He was a great tour guide! We traveled to 6 cities and got to spend that time with my son. He hasn't come home since he left for Naples. He wanted to travel a lot in Europe. He's gone to Turkey, Germany, Spain, and has seen most of Italy. Such an amazing experience! If you haven't already, I hope you all get the opportunity to go visit your sailors.

gvnavymom HN, wow!  Your daughter has certainly visited many places already!  That is wonderful!  I sure hope my son is able to travel at some point.  I was hoping my son wouldn't get a car quite so soon, but he loves to tinker with engines; so I understand why he would.   I am so glad to hear that you may also get a chance to go see your daughter over there!  May would be a beautiful month to go.  :)  We are trying to decide between April or October, since those are slower months for my husband's job.

gcnavymom HN, I am thrilled for you!  That is wonderful news!  Are you thinking of visiting Italy?  We are, but we will need to set aside the money for that!   :)  My son has traveled a little.  He has not been far.  The last I talked to him about it, he was looking at going to Rome.  He has always wanted to live in Europe and see the different cultures and views.  He is trying to get  his "quals" done, and that is taking a while though.  (He isn't even sure how many there are.)  Since he will be there for 3 years, he seems to have relaxed about doing very much just yet.  And, he since he bought a car, he will have to save up a little money also!

militarymomx2-my son skypes us now that he has internet in his room.  :)   gcnavymom HN-I see our sailors arrived at about the same time.  Is your daughter able to come home for Christmas?
