Walking Across America - one step at a time:)!

Keep up the good work . . .

I'd like to encourage everyone to continue posting any walking you do in the "Walk Across America" discussion . . . every step we take is one step closer to our virtual visits:)!

WHOO HOO Ladies . . . I just finished totaling up our miles to date and WOW!!!!!
Total through 8/31 . . . 1,891 miles . . . just 400 more miles between me and Norfolk - where sailor son is:)!
Together we can achieve GREAT things:)!

the recipes you submit has to be all your own, BUT if you have one you love and found in a cookbook or on a website you are more than welcome to post it on the page - directions are under the info section as well!! thanks!!

I use P90X and i got it from the site that gives the commission to Molly's Adopt a Sailor. If anyone wants the site let me know. Have a great day - Kathy

Good morning ladies, yes I need to get in shape. Put on some pounds over the winter. Going to start walking as soon as spring hits. Me and my dog will go walking. My step daughter is in BC now. Want to be in good shape when I see her again. She will be in shape so will I. Prayes out to all of you.

I pray everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Now...who's on for getting healthy and lighter in 2010?!? I have slipped a bit, ok...ALOT..but who hasn't?? Let's do it for our Sailors! When they come back home, we will be the LEAN MEAN MACHINES!! Anybody out there on Board?!?! Let's hear some NAVY HOLLERIN'!!!!! Anchor Moms AWEIGH!!! :@)

Angie F, I LOVED the turkey-Gobble--Gobble!! I had to (heavy on the HAD TO...)
eat two turkey dinners on one day. Now I Wobble--Wobble! :) But! The next day I went to the OKC Zoo and walked around for 5 hours! We could hibernate like the Black Bear....they have to consume 20,000 calories a day--that is 50 Hamburgers!!

Ladies, so sorry, I've been absent for almost two months now. Wow, time flies! I'm getting more consistent time in the gym, but struggling a bit at home with a tight budget making healthy (organic and more expensive whole/health food) choices, especially for dinner, difficult. Can't afford the soy yogurts, avocados, shrimp, ground turkey and other things I used to have regularly. Plus, walking outside is out. Winter has arrived and so has my cold induced asthma. :P

ivonbirdlane, CONGRATS on your weight loss, you GO girl!!! Way to set the pace and inspire us all! Kathryn, I'm giggling at the thought of you walking backwards though the park. Watch out for those tree roots and squirrels! Note to self, wash ALL citrus! Let's all get back in the swing of things here and not neglect supporting one another during the holiday season. God Bless! =)

Kathryn, Loved your comment on the Jar Heads. LOL The last deployment my son had was with 1,200 "Jar Heads". He griped, he moaned, Ha! I told him to play nice with the little jars! To say the least, he was Thrilled! went they got off the ship.
Well, good luck with the walking and definately stay away from Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi and all other products with Nutri Sweet in them. My son just sent me the lastes study about Aspartimine (did I spell that right?) anyway, they have proven that it acts as a poison to some people and the symptoms are very severe and serious. Splenda is ok. Yes, I do wash the lemons, the spinach, all fruit, veggies, those reports are disgusting! Yuck! Keep us all posted!!

Thanks for the encouragement and congrats on the weight loss ivonbirdlane! That is an amazing amount for only 4 weeks. Good job!!
The weather has been really nice here this week and my husband and I have taken advantage of it by taking our walks in the park. I even did the walking backwards thing there. Ha Ha - made sure no one was around first. My husband said they used to make them do that in the Marines. I doubt if it was for the same reason though. He said they had to walk and run both backwards and side ways. So if it is good enough for the Jar Heads it is good enough for this Navy Mom. LOL It is supposed to rain today though, so I guess I will either stick to the neighborhood with an umbrella or go clean off the treadmill and use it for something other than a clothes hanger.

I have been drinking so much water. Gave up on the diet Cokes and feel much better. I always put a wedge of lemon in mine to jazz it up a bit. Make sure to wash the lemon really well if you do this. They have done studies about lemons in restaurants - really yucky stuff.
