Yes alcohol can cause a  lot of issues. My boys are both still under age and I am almost 100% positive that both are staying away from it. They did when they were home. My youngest would be home on a Friday or Saturday night (even right before he left this summer for boot camp) and I'd ask why he wasn't hanging out with his friends. He said because they are drinking and he didn't want to play babysitter and be dealing with them. I pray he keeps that attitude. My oldest, the on Alexandria is pretty set against drinking. He turns 21 this April and said he might try his first drink then, but isn't sure yet. Sorry to hear the news of the friend, that is so hard and sad. So young and such a future he had. I am a praying person and I will say a prayer.

The weather over in Connecticut and that area is making records. Nearly double the normal snow fall. Hang in there and a prayer will be sent your way too!

Tammy. Glad to hear they are having "family dinner night out"! That is funny. Amanda, wow! They will have to figure out something so they get Fed money. I think we have 1 more snow day left then will be in same boat as you. It's supposed to snow again Monday. Enough!! I HATE driving in this!!

Glad to hear it!  Mine is too-at least I think he is! I know they party, but he says he either spends the night or is the driver and doesn't drink. That was the case when he was home, at least.

Janice - I knew about that, and I know that my sailor still drinks - he is just MUCH more responsible than  he was when he was younger and lived here.

Sorry to hear the sad news. I will be praying for the family. I think the Navy really stresses that if they are of age go out and have fun but know when to stop. Also Don't Drink and Drive. My son has a tag on his keychain with a number to call to be picked up and not get in trouble. Sorry to tell you, Tammy he bought some Shinerbock to take to your son. Not a huge amount since we only found 3 in our stores-and we went to several

Sorry to hear this drleeper - I will keep the family in my prayers. I preach the "alcohol issue" alot!  I have to admit that my son is alot better with his alcohol than when he lived here in small town Kansas - where the kids think there is nothing to do but to party and drink.  I am glad that he got out - and he has also mentioned many times that he is glad he got out and has found true friends.

My son is coming home tonight for the weekend.  This is an unexpected visit due to the death of a very good friend from high school.  The student was found dead in  his off campus apartment at Virginia Tech.  The speculation is alcohol related.  He was my son's very first friend 16 years ago when we moved into Shrewsbury PA.  Talk to your sons and impress on them that alcohol is nothing to take chances with.  If you are a praying person, I ask for prays for his family.  It's a very sad situation.
