danagirl - A little early for the usps to post that, but the Military, Navy and the ship's ombudsman usually helps get the word out on that for sending packages at Christmas.  As many of these ladies know, when Katie was on the Essex/BHR, pkgs have taken anywhere from 1 week to 2 months.  Of course the one that took 2 months was sent just prior to the tsunami and the cleanup that the Essex was sent emergently to help with.

I have sent pkgs for Katie's birthday (just before Christmas) and for Christmas into December and still not had any problems.

I'm sure one of the Moms in this group will even post the dates (or a link to it) when they see it as well.

Lat night when I was getting my package ready for the 'Molly's Adopt a Sailor' September mailing, I was baking for Katie too.  Her 4th anniversary is coming up, so I am sending a box for her to celebrate with her new crew.

Good Morning everyone... I'm sure it is posted somewhere.. but was wondering what the cut-off dates are for sending packages for holidays.  His birthday is the end of October and then Christmas is right around the corner :)

Have a wonderful week everyone :)

cathy - Josh needs to remember that a list comes out prior to the advancement that shows how many took the test, and how many are eligible for advancement per rate/rank.  One advancement Katie missed by 1.7 pts.  She said 'That's OK Mom, I know someone who missed by less than 1 pt!'

Hi Tina - nice to hear from you. Josh took his advancement test last week too.  He was so disappointed last time that he didn't advance even though he scored high.

It's definitely fall weather here in upstate NY.  Only 60s today, but sunny.  And cool nights getting into the 40s.  Looking forward to the beautiful colors of the trees when they start turning.

Josh golfed when they went to Bali last year.  He took lots of pictures.  The course was beautiful!!!!   I'm not a golfer, but I would have loved to ride in a cart and enjoy the scenery!

   Take care all!

Sharon - my son said they would drive him out, and he mentioned it was a 3 hour drive. My other son spoke with him Saturday night and he told him he would be going to the ship on Friday. I'll have to tell him about the USO.. I know he'll like to get the most out of his time there.

Thank you all .. have a great week :)

Cathy - yes, Katie is doing some more type of DC training.  Not sure exactly if it is overall or a specific area.  I haven't asked her yet.  Just know where she is going at this point if she makes the current list.  I was hoping she would be in VA when my brother visited, but she did go with Eric to the Tiger's Bball game when she was here in August.  When he visits he will be at a resort with an indoor pool and hot tub and his grandson will be there as well, so it would have been nice.

Hope he enjoys his golf game, wherever they are headed.

Looks like the rain may hold off, but we will have to see.  Was sunny this morning when I had my coffee, but now it is clouding up.

Marianne - is Katie doing more DC training?  Glad to hear she is well.  Burrrr...I remember those wet fall days and watching Josh play football.  Enjoy!  Josh, too, is doing well.  He said he would skype when they got to their destination.  And then added - after he golfs of course  :-)   Can't wait to see his face and hear his voice.

Take care and have a nice weekend.

Hi Cathy! doing pretty well, thanks for asking.  Katie's doing well.  Ship still in the yard.  They have added pics to the ship's FB page...33 pics the other day, but none of Katie;(.  I hear from her pretty regularly.  My youngest brother will be in VA visiting his daughters in early Nov, but Katie may be in MO for training.  Hopefully she will go another time so she can see her Uncle.

Tomorrow our youngest plays football....is is suppose to be a cool/wet fall day.

How's Josh!
