Thought I'd check in as it's been quite awhile since I'd been here. Welcome to the new members. :)For those of you that are looking here to find out what's going on with your sailor; sorry, but this is not the place for that. This group, N4M, is for supporting each other since we all know what you're going through with the not knowing or hearing from your sailor. I found the general Sub group much more helpful as it's a bigger group and more postings. What was nice about Buffy group was that their sailor was going through what your sailor was going through; so even though you REALLY shouldn't say anything, they would know.
Anyway, for those of you who are looking for more specific info about the Buffy and her crew, talk to your sailor about getting you on the email newsletter list that the ombudsman puts out quarterly. You can also contact her on facebook and get more current info and photos in the Buffy's Private/Secret facebook group. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing.
Well, that's all from me; my sailor is done and out of the Navy now.
God Bless our Military and their families!
What's new USS Buffalo Moms/Relatives/Friends? I'm wondering when visiting Honolulu to see your Sailor, where do you stay?
Just joined this group. I don't see many current postings on here. Is it still active? My grandson just arrived in Honolulu on Nov 15, 2014 to serve aboard the USS Buffalo. The boat was out on maneuvers when he arrived and it was a couple of weeks later that he got to meet the crew, etc. He thinks they are all a great bunch and is eager to serve with them. I think they might have gone out on another maneuver trip with him on board now. I am anxious to hear how he likes "being underwater".
Tamara, I quit posting for the same reason....nothing going on.
My grandson is on the USS Buffalo stationed in Hawaii, not Guam. Perhaps there is another area where I should be trying to get information. This is all new to me and I appreciate any help someone is willing to give. This is the first time my family has had Navy connections and he loves what he is doing. I wish to learn all I can in order to better support and understand his new life. Thank you in advance for any help you may give me.
What happened to everyone? I'm at fault too that I haven't been on here for quite awhile. Mainly because there hasn't been any action. I know it needs to be updated as they're not in Guam anymore.
Aloha to all my fellow Buffy Moms....
Aloha Buffy Moms!
Sending prayers and hugs to the men for their loss.
My name is Nikki Hennecy and I am currently the Ombudsman for the USS Buffalo Command. I am rarely in this site because my main focus is communicating to our sailors and families via phone, email and Facebook. I just want to let everyone know that being in the Ombudsman’s email roster and Facebook requires authorization from your sailor who is assigned to the USS Buffalo Command. An Ombudsman Emergency Contact sheet is given to him to fill up and sign so the command can forward it to me for processing. On behalf of the Captain, we want to protect our sailors’ and their families’ privacy and safety so documentations like this are very vital. OPSEC is strongly encouraged at all times. If you are not part of the email roster or Facebook, please ask your Buffalo sailor to fill up the form and add your name in. As soon as I get it, I will update my listing. Thank you so much for continuously supporting our sailors. Have a safe holiday!
