Oh I see. I was just trying to figure this whole thing out. So if the parent or family member lives in Japan and they have the information they can privately send it to you, but just not post it for everyone to see. Right?

Carolina, OPSEC says that the sailors are not to tell future ports, either where or dates. I know that if you live in Japan, you can get advanced notice in person. The GW Ombudsman reminds family members that they are not to e-mail the ports, write them in letters nor tell them over the phone. Also there is always a chance that the port of call will be canceled or changed at the last minute. This happened earlier this summer and family members who had planned to meet the ship had to use their trip insurance.

abc 815 I had no idea you could meet up with your sailor at one of the ports. How interesting. She tells me she can't let me know what port she is headed into untill after she is there. I am confused.

abc, I am so glad that you had a good time in Singapore! I am sure that you were getting uneasy while waiting. Seven hours is a long time. I look forward to hearing more about your experiences.

Navy ma, I see your son work is to help feed this floating city, I can see how busy he must be. He most likely doesn't have a computer in the galley where he could get on easy. If this is his first cruise he most likely is just getting used to where all the places are on the ship. I wouldn't worry to much at least you know he's below the flight deck and when he returns to Japan you'll hear from him, then you can tell him to try and find a place to email, or he will tell you when on the ship the line to the computer is to long and he's tired after working 12 hour shifts.

Mollie, Wish I knew some of his lady sailor friends. I did hear of one that he was suppose to have dinner with before they left Japan ,but, it fell through. He's shy around young ladies so I'd imagine he just knows the ones he works with.
Just sent him another box yesterday, think this one will catch his attention. Not too many eating goodies, books, travel games, kid stuff. I'm resoting to anything. Maybe, I'll get a question from him if I've lost my mind. Hate to resort to sending him kids stuff, but, it's communication war. If he doesn't send me something soon I'm gonna put envelopes, stamps, pens pencils, paper, even crayons if I have to. LOL We have a great relationship and maybe he's found himself a lady friend and I've got to get use to the idea of sharing him.
Have a GREAT DAY ladies!!!!!! But, still think the smack on the head would work better than anything :)

hi everyone! this is abc815, back on american soil! wow, seems like i missed alot as i checked my email to get hundreds of updates on this page! i'll have to sit and read what i missed. as many of you know now, i DID have the correct port location. whew! being in a foreign country alone is not fun! after my 20 hour flight, it was another 7 hours of waiting at the airport before i felt a tap and a "heeeey!" on my shoulder from my sailor. what a surreal moment! it was very hard leaving him.

anyways, i'm so glad to see that you ladies were able to talk with your loved ones in this last port visit! it's about time, huh? and thomas' mom, i think it was you who posted reunion pics w/ your son. FANTASTIC pictures! my eyes welled up with tears. you must've been so excited to be able to give him a hug. :)

thanks to everyone who thought of me or worried for me. everything turned out okay. as far as their future schedule for the remainder of the year, i have that info. but of course as always, nothing is set in stone. email for info. thanks and good night all!

Navy Ma, Just got an email from my sailor. He sent an answer to one of my questions and did not say anything more !!!! But, that's ok! The question thing worked. Hope you hear soon. I agree with Molly, I think gals are better at this than guys. My daughter lives about an hour away and she calls morning, noon and night.

OK Navy Ma I sent my daughter an email to do that for you. Let's see if we get results. I will report back to you.
