Hi - my son just got orders for Yokosuka, Japan and is assigned to the USS John S. McCain. I don't see that anyone has posted on this group for a while, so if anyone has a sailor on this ship, please respond...have been lucky to always find a group throughout my sailor's journey so far that helped get me through the many ups and downs...

Thank you for adding me!  My son has been assigned to the McCain.  He goes to Japan in August.  I don't think I'm prepared!!!!!

My sailor has his orders for the USS McCain.  Does he need to do anything special in order to use his laptop?  He already has a cell phone but may not be able to use it in Japan. Sprint is his provider in the States but I have know idea what happens once he gets to Japan. Any info would be great.   Thanks

Oh Skype, what a wonderful invention. To be able to see and hear Zach goes a long way to ease the pain of separation. I was frustrated with Christmas. I had sent  out some presents by the deadline and they got there Unfortunately, the mail room had thought that all the BM's were on leave and held his package for two weeks. We can laugh about it now but at the time I was not happy. Facebook is another way we have found to stay in touch. Just hard to remember the 18 hour time change.

Hello MommaG and a happy Wednesday to you.  My son Kyle is a GSM  or gas turbine operator/mechanic.  He seems to be adapting pretty well.  Christmas was a little hard on him but we were able to talk to him and skype.  We text or email a few times a week to keep him up to date on whats happening around home and such.  So glad to have found this group.  Looking forward to more conversations with you.  Take care.

Hello all.  I didn't realize that there was a McCain group.  I joined the Japan moms group, but missed this one.  My son has been in Japan since Sept 2012.  Glad that I found all of you.  Haven't found any moms of McCain sailors on the Japan mom site.  Well, just wanted to say hi and god bless the McCain and all of the US Navy!
