Cynthia,
I would also check on the other side of the tunnel from Norfolk. My son in law is stationed at Norfolk and he and my daughter live at Fort Monroe. This is an army base so no civilians can live there but the area she lives in is extremely nice. Check Hampton & Phoebus areas, these are cheaper than Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas. But no matter where you decide...there are always good and bad areas. If you come to Va to visit your daughter...drive around the area, that is the best way.

Lora - I'm in Richmond, too. I live just south of the Short Pump Mall. Where are you? anybody else in Richmond?

I'm in Richmond. Lucky me, my son was stationed at the main naval station in Norfolk his first 3 years and moved over to Little Creek for the next 3. I love having him 2 hours from home. He depends on us to take care of his dogs and is able to move some of his stuff out of his house and up here when he deploys.

Hey Everybody,
My son is just finishing A School at Goose Creek, graduating as a Machinist's Mate and continuing with the Nuke school. We are visiting him for Thanksgiving, but SO looking forward to his first visit home at Christmas. He left home on May 17, so it's been a long time. We are in Stafford.
