Mineman Moms

My son arrived at RTC on 11/15/11.  His current contract has him as a Mineman and I am looking to see if there are any other Mineman Moms out there that have sons/daughters who are going in or have just arrived!  Mineman is such a small community that it is hard to gather information about the rate, and would like to hear stories or talk about what our children are doing!

My son is scheduled to head to boot camp with a mineman rate in about 2 weeks. I’m nervous about my son leaving home.

Got a call from my son this Wednesday that he got his order.... He is going to Bahrain, not sure why he is happy and excited while I am worried about him station so far away.  Especially he has NEVER been outside of the US.

Well ladies, I am new to all of this and am very excited about my son's future with the navy! MD finishes A school Monday, but has chosen Bahrain as his first duty station on the USS Century. I won't see him until April. If any of you have family at or have been at this duty station, please look me up.

Mineman seems to be a small Community , from my research there are not a lot of them. I hope my Son does well and likes it.

the school in Great Lakes was 9 weeks, then San Diego is 19 weeks.  The rate he wanted was not available so he chose Mineman, so far he likes it but said the 3rd week of school was the hardest.
