Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hey everyone, first time asking a question and I know it has been asked before but I tried reading through older post and there are way to many. I have really found a ton of great info. My question is my son left Meps and arrived in Great Lakes may6. I have a few questions. First being is there way I can get his ship and division number so I can locate his PIR? I am a single father and trying to schedule my summer vacation with my daughter so we can see his PIR. My other question is how do I… Continue

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

Join Guam Mom's. What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and where is he stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to.

You may want to check out Dads on Moms.....com and http://www.navydads.com/. There is also PROUD NAVY DADS, but it is not very active.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in May,  to connect with others with loved ones who arrived the same day and may have PIR together.

I also invite you to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and PIR Reference Information. Once you know your recruit’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.
