I am a single mom of a sailor stationed in Japan. He has been there for 27 months and has 2 more years over there. This is killing me that he is so far away for so long and I can't see him or talk to him as often as I would like to. His calls come to few and far between.
I am here to support or represent my:
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I have several family members who have been in then Navy. Cousins who served in WWII, brother and brother-in-law in the Korean war and friends in Vietanam. I was happy my son chose to carry on the tradition of the family. The most important thing I have learned is how hard it is to be so far apart of the one who has always been there in my life. I raised my son alone from the beginning of his life and now he isn't here everyday to talk. I don't feel I'm part of his life anymore.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
