OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Profile Information

A little about me:
I currently work for the Department of Corrections in Kansas and am planning on relocating to California by next year. Both of my daughters are married to Chief Petti Officers, and my son has recently joined the Navy and is stationed in Guam.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
It takes a special person to be a Sailor; those who have joined the Navy love their country and sacrifice everything for it every day; with fewer acknowledgements than other branches of the Military. Many people think that because they are not on the front line like those who serve in the Army for example that they don’t sacrifice as much; they believe the Navy is a cushy branch of the Military, but it’s not. Most people don’t understand our sailors and their families are in a constant period of transition. Often times the wives don’t even know where their husbands are and have no contact with them and are left to make all decisions for the family especially those who are on submarines as my sons are. When I think of the Navy and their family I think of true heroes who sacrifice all the time; throughout their entire career.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

You may want to join Guam Mom's. What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and/or where is he stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to. If you want info on other groups for your son-in-laws' commands let me know where they are stationed as well.
