OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

The Page, What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology), will help you with many of the new terms you will come across.

Don't forget to make the changes below.

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your recruit every time you post, so also make change 4 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile picture.

Yes.  I'm getting so anxious! Where are you from?

Jessica, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.) Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with your recruit.

Since you have a recruit at the RTC, you can change "Thinking about joining" above to "Enlisted." You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.

Hi Jessica!

Welcome to N4M's. I see your daughter just left for bootcamp. I would suggest looking into our forums and/or blogs. You will find the tabs for those at the top of the page.

From there, you can search what others are talking about and share your own stories! Just remember to follow the OPSEC Guidelines.

If you need any help at all please do not hesitate to ask!

I look forward to hearing about you and your family!

- Erin
