OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Lori,

I am still trying to figure this whole website out, so I am sorry I didn't see or respond to your earlier message.

How I am doing? Probably about like you, some minutes I think, this is only 8 weeks I can get through it, then the next minute I am desperate to hear from her and my heart is breaking all the time.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around this huge decision she made so quickly and trying not to dwell on her angry words before she left. Several people have likened this to a roller coaster ride and they are not wrong.

Make changes 2 and 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Hi, when did or will your future Sailor ship to the RTC? If you know the ship date, go to the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. At the bottom are links for each of the months, join the one for the month that your future Sailor ships.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR when the time comes. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. What is your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Welcome to NavyforMoms.com.  My name is Ronny and my son has been in the Navy since February of 2012.  He is currently stationed in San Diego with a Helicopter Squadron.  He is an Aviation Structural Mechanic.  I hope you find all the info you are looking for here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.  My son is 3rd Generation Navy, so I do know a little about the Navy..:)

If you have a new Sailor who is in Boot Camp, or leaving soon, visit CallsforRecruits.org and I will send you FREE Pre-Paid Phone cards for your SR to use while they are in boot camp.  I started that program when my son left for Boot Camp :)
Be sure and check out the Survival Guide for Newbies…It has some valuable info you would like to know :) It can be found here: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/survival-guide-for-navy-for-moms-newbie
