OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Profile Information

A little about me:
I'm a single Mom of four grown children. My son that joined the Navy is my youngest and is the last one to leave home. I now have a very empty nest and am missing my son terribly. Been thinking about selling my house and moving but not sure where to move to.
I am here to support my
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?
In the NROTC program
When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
My son will have many doors opened to him and will be able to further his education in any area he chooses along with being able to experience things that would never have been available to him outside of the Navy. My son has signed on as a machinist mate on submarines. His dream is to get into diving.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Lemonelephant,
Im not sure how NROTC was placed in the profile but I haven't figured out how to change that yet. I haven't been on the site for some time now so naturally a lot has changed. My son is stationed in Guam on a "fast attack" USS Oaklahoma City. He's doing
great. He's earned his dolphins and is working on passing the test for diving training. I don't hear from him much so I'm working on getting on the Ombudsman Registery so I can get some sort of information on his boats activity.
For anyone out there trying to find their son or daughters Ombudsman Registery contact

Hi Proud Mom - just checking in to see how you are doing?  Haven't seen you around lately. Have you received your letter with your sons PIR date?  Hope all is well :)

Since you have a Recruit at the RTC, you should change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program. You aren't the first person to make that mistake and you won't be the last. If you know your SR's PIR date, go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there.
