OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Make change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

The Rating Information Card for Mass Communication Specialist (MC), can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/mc.pdf. If you choose that rating, then you will most likely fly out to Ft. Meade the day after PIR.

The Rating Information Card for Culinary Specialist (CS) can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/cs.pdf. That indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 5-6 weeks after classing up. You may fly out to "A" School in Fort Lee, VA to the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence the day after PIR, but it is not unusual for Sailors who will be going to Fort Lee to be on Hold in the THU at GL after PIR waiting to class up at Fort Lee.
