For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I have a son in the MD State Police K-9, the second son is a Fireman-Paramedic for Frederick County MD, a grandson in Navy training and my daughter who will be leaving for boot camp in April. She will be heading for Nuke training afterwards.

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).
There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.
Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your daughter.
Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in August. You will meet others with loved ones leaving in August 2016 who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.
Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. (If she gets a ship date for a different month, there are links for each of the months in that discussion.)
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view.
Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. I'm glad you found "your page" and how to comment to individuals. Please feel free to go to the group page and make a comment on there. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions you have, including how to navigate this website!!! You will get lots of help from the ladies on there!!!
I know how confusing it can be to keep getting her ship date changed like that. Her ship date could also be moved up suddenly as long as she is a high school graduate. It's always based on openings in the schools and what the Navy needs!!! You will get used to the changing Navy life. You will hear the phrase "hurry up and wait" quite a bit!!!!! Let your daughter know she should prepare herself as much as she can just in case!!!!!

If she has not had PIR yet, then your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.
