A little about me:
I am a Retired Navy woman married to a Retired Navy man and now a Navy Mom. Thank you Jesus! When my daughter left to go into the military I decided I wanted to write about my experience of transitioning from the military life to entrepreneurship. I did complete my book and my daughter did survive bootcamp and A School & C School (smile)....So the new journey begins. My book entitled, "Hang Up the Uniform - Bridging the Gap Between Military Service and Business Ownership" is our reminder of my Navy career ended and her Navy career began. What a year!
I am here to support my

Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy career?

When I heard “Navy,” I...
Was proud and encouraged it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
It is an honor to serve those who are serving others......
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

You will be fine.  Missing her will continue no matter how many years she is in the Navy.  You have God in your life, so what you told your daughter should be encouraging for both you and her as well.  Katie has already served 3 years in Japan before coming to the Bush. With them out of the yard they will soon start all the quals for the ship and the airpower, so I am sure you know the ship will be in/out over the next months before their 9/10 month deployment.  You will get through in 1 day at a time.

Hello! My SR finally passed and is doing very well now. What I have is a document in which I collected tips from various discussions on the internet. I will see if I can copy and paste it into your inbox. I think it will be helpful. I hope you get the chance to share it with her. Fingers crossed! :)

Hi There, Thank you for the note.  I hope your daughter gets through this hurdle and passes the Prone float.  I will add a little prayer for her and all the recruits that are struggling.  I have not talked to my daughter in a couple of weeks now.  I did get a much better letter from her this week.  She sounded much more confident.  We also received a letter for the Department of the Navy stating she was selected as the Honor Recruit for her division.  I couldn't be more proud.  I know she stresses over her tests a lot.  Are you planning on attending the meet & greet at the Ramada?  I would love to meet you. We only have a couple more weeks and our girls will be stronger women because of this experience.  Hang in there!

My SR is also the Yeoman for her division.  She likes that job very much but it takes away from study time so she is stressed about passing tests in general.  The homesickness is definitely getting the best of her and I send her words of encouragement every chance I get. I think she really misses having contact with her family.  I know it is part of the process and I keep telling her to believe in the process.  I do think girls are more emotional and open in their letters.  Her letters are conflicting... one paragragh is sad and the next paragraph is sounds better.  I pray they get through the next 3 weeks. What division is your daughter in?  Maybe they can connect with each other and help each other out!  My daughter is ship 07/Div 371.
