Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

KarenJ...s766, I see you have changed your Username so that it no longer contains your last name; you also need to change the URL to this page. Make change 2 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile)  (clickable link) to take care of that. (If you are using a Smart phone, you will need to switch to Desktop View to make this change.)

Also make change 3 while you are there so that this page is no longer open to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

You should also change "In the NROTC program" above to "Enlisted" because NROTC refers to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, a college scholarship program.

You may also want to update your "About me:" section.

If your Sailor is still on the Nimitz, then join USS Nimitz CVN 68, CARRIER Families!, and/or Bangor/Bremerton/Kitsap Sailors and Family.

Thanks for the response. I am really looking for support right now. I am a proud mother but also sad that the contact is so little during there school. I almost start crying every time we talk about it and we talk about it alot. I just want to show him excitement because he is so excited. I have 2 10 year old daughters at home that I feel are feeling a bit left out because the navy is all we discuss and seems to be all we think about or maybe I should say the navy life. My son leaving home doesn't seem to be a big deal to him but it is to us. It is hard letting go.

Good Morning Karen,
Thank you for the friend request! I'm excited to learn all about the Navy for Mom's website and looking forward to many friendships while our boys/girls grow into amazing adults! Our son Chase/20 joined the Navy back in June 2009. He was accepted into the Nuclear Power Program and leaves for Boot Camp 3/2/10 and will have his A school in South Carolina when finished with BC. There are so many emotions one goes through daily and now that it's 3 days till he checks in at the DEP office and 4 days till swored in, it's hard to believe that day has finally arrived. As a mom you always want to hoover and protect them. Make sure they are happy, feed and healthly. But in reality I no longer get to do this for him. We are so proud of his decision and trust he'll make the most of the opportunitys and arise to the highest level possible. I know the tears will soon come and I'll miss him dearly, but I'm happy he is going. So tell me about your son? Thanks again for your kindness and your advice about the support website. I'll look forward to hearing from you. Have a great weekend! Janiece, Utah :)
