Unfortunately, the "spending money" thing happens often.  For many sailors, it's the first time they've had income that wasn't based on hourly work... meaning the check always shows up as long as you get up everyday.  So, they treat themselves to stuff they've never had before.

Not eating on boat is probably due to thinking of it as like eating in the school cafeteria... even if the food isn't bad, it's just not "cool."

Hi "Ladybug!" I'm sorry to be so late in welcoming you to Indiana Moms! The system told me you had joined, but the link to this page didn't work, so I've just now found you.

I'm the administrator for the group, so if you have any questions, please ask. My son is a Nuke MM serving on the submarine USS ALABAMA, based out of Bangor, WA. He's been in for 4 years.

If you're near Indy (or willling to drive), there's a monthly informal dinner in Avon (on the west side) which meets on third Mondays. Click Sep 20 on the Events calendar (right-hand column) for those details. From time to time, we also have regional gatherings in various parts of the state.

Jump in with any questions or comments you may have. I think you'll find we're a nice bunch of folks and always willing to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. I see that you've already gotten to know our "Pat;" she's a great source of info and support! Hugs! k.

That is what I meant by performing division...the divisions that begin with 9 are the divisions that perform at the graduations...they sing, play instruments, do the flag drill, drill performances, are the side boys, carry the colors, etc.
What was the video of? If it was a graduation from boot camp or if it was related to boot camp then it is a very good chance that you saw him.
If not, you would be amazed how many of these guys look alike once you put them in uniform and stand them in a large group.

I don't know if there is one, but you go to all groups and type in the search box, try using division number and see what pops up!

Because of his division number, I am assuming that he is in a performing group...which means that he will be performing for graduations.

If you know his rate (job) you will also be able to find out what, where he will be doing or going after boot camp by finding groups within his rate.
If you have specific questions, maybe I can help answer or direct you to where to find answers. I did not have this site when my sailor joined in 2006...so I did a lot of reading on the internet to find my answers.

You will definately want to look on the Groups tab...
Check out the Boot Camp Group with the largest membership...you will find a lot of information on the pages there.
Do you know his exact graduation date and his ship and division number for boot camp? You may find a groups for his PIR date (graduation) and for his group at boot camp! These are also on the groups pages.
Groups is one of the tabs under the banner at the top of this page. You do not have to join to read...but you will have to join to ask questions or participate in the discussions.
