DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

It's not a good idea to post a pic of your Sailor every time you post. See change 4 in OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile pic.

If your Username contains your last name, also make changes 1 and 2 to change your Username and the URL (address) to your My Page.

Also make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web.I suggest "Just My Friends" since you have chosen to include pics on your My Page.

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty)? There may be a group for that as well.

There will definitely be other parents there.  I missed my son's induction because we left on vacation the same day he left and it was several hours away.  It broke my heart that I couldn't be there for him, so if you can don't miss it.  My son is in A School now in Monterey and loving it.  He was a college graduate and worked for a few years so he was 25 when he left.  We were very close too.  Now he calls me almost eveyother day...so don't worry.  He may not be as close as you would like but you guys will always be in his thoughts and heart.  Write to him everyday in BC it is there lifeline.  Write about everything and send him news because they don't get any.  Those letters brought us even closer.  Hang in there..it will be okay.  And please fee free to call me if you have any other questions.
