Woo!!! How exciting!! Did you end up in housing or finding a civilian apartment? Right now we have Time Warner Internet because it's the only provider for where we live! We haven't had any problems with it though.... Luckily since we don't have a choice! We also have DirecTV. When we lived in civilian apts we had AT&T U-verse Internet and cable and LOVED the service! We never had any periods where the service didn't work or anything. I wish we could have gotten it here. They provide to most housing but its still a pretty new service so they haven't laid the cables everywhere yet so some areas don't have it; unfortunately ours doesn't! I would look into what they offer for you first!

They are separated by officer and enlisted but for example we are neighbors with and E-7. As long as you're respectful neighbors it's fine. They're the same way...when they are at home, they are HOME they are not at work. So they're not "watching". Are you guys married? If you are already and he has his orders I suggest getting on the waiting list. It can take a couple of months or more for something to become available, and you don't have to accept it but the sooner you get on the list the better. You can still search aroun and see if you find civilian housing you like better and if you get the call from housing just tell them no. But better than to be ready to move out here and decide you want housing and be told there's a 2+ month wait!

Some of the perks of housing (so far lol) are 24 hour security and an alarm system in the house, if you're worried about safety!

For the first year we were here we found our own place, an apartment in Mission Valley. I really like the area. It's so central and really safe! Some people think it's too expensive and you can definitely find places for cheaper but it was perfect for us. We just moved into military housing this week though. It's our first time in housing so I don't know too much about it yet! The actual house itself is really nice though.

Hey there! Sorry it took so long to get back to you, we've been moving! Anyway, have you found out which base he will be at?
So you can start, some of the nicer areas are Mission Valley, Imperial Beach, Serra Mesa/Tierrasanta (although might be kind of far!) Banker's Hill, Hillcrest, North Park! Good luck!

His mom got the form letter today with his address and PIR date. Thats awesome you got to talk to him!! :) was it a long phone call? I will be glued to my phone on thanksgiving and making sure its on full volume lol
