Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hmmm...that's a questions I have not heard yet.  Ask at bootcamp moms if they know about medic alerts.

I am so glad you were able to talk to her. Hearing her voice was "priceless"

We received our letter from the Navy with our son's address, and projected graduation date. I have wriiten him a letter and mailed it on Wednesday, and we mailed 2 cards on today. I can't wait to receive a letter from him, or talk to him.

Yes, she may have purchased a calling card at the NEX.  Send her a calling card that you pre-activate at home (activation time goes against their calling time) and send her the code if there is one.  She will need it too, right after she gets to her A school and before you can mail her the cell phone.

Thank you so much for your comment. We received "the box" yesterday evening. Today is a low day for me. I think it's the UNKNOWN, that worries me. If I could talk to him, I would feel somewhat better.
