DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Getting excited and nervous about this PIR.  Wish i knew more about the fine details to make more definite plans.  Wondering about getting a final phone call and praying that I dont miss it!  I did miss first call and was very upset!  I could tell by his voice that he was sort of sad too for the missed call.  I did get a call a couple weeks later and talked almost 20 mins.  that was the best Christmas present ever!  I think we get one more call telling us about becoming a sailor.  I hate…

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes. Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP code to one that is not easily associated with your recruit.

Welcome to Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). I look forward to sharing this journey with you. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) for information on what to expect and to help you prepare for PIR. Start with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info.

What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) or field going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Take care and blessings to you and yours.

Hi Yolanda! Prayer keeps our minds in sweet peace. Phil 4:7 "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". After reading my son's letter I myself had become sad, tears of both sadness and joy filled my eyes and I just could not stop crying because I can't get there to hug him and to let him know its tough at first but will be worth it in the end. I think he was having second thoughts, but said he wasn't stressed or depressed just holding his head, that is what made me cry. At that point I knew he probably was having second thoughts. I had to control myself and start to pray, I prayed until I felt peace and knowing that he is ok, because I had to remember our phone conversation, he was doing good and performing at his best. I thank God to help me remember the conversation we had. I thank God for peace. I pray for the much success for your son, Yolanda. I pray He keeps you as well and in perfect peace during this journey that you & your family is about to take with your son. Good luck, his PIR date is Thursday! Good luck & God bless!!

~Blessings,

Sherry
