Day 51 - Battlestations begins/Day 52 BS21 done - I have a Sailor!

Yes, today is day 51 since my son left for BC at GL.  It has absolutely been the longest 51 days of my life!  He is my firstborn & I find myself wondering where did the time go & when did this kid grow up?  Tonight, about 15 minutes from now he goes into BS21....I really just wish I could have been there to give him a big hug & wish him well.  I was fortunate enough to receive an extra phone call this past Sunday for 5 minutes & wish him well.  I have written him nearly…

California to South Carolina

Hello Everyone!

Just wondering if there is anyone who can help me out with this question!

I'm moving from California to South Carolina with my husband while he attends A School. I was wondering if anyone knows how the NAVY MOVE works. What are the steps and how fast they are. Also If anyone can give me any other helpful advice would be appreciative. Thank you so much!

Why did we name he that?

So why did we name the Cat Storm Chaser?

We get that a lot. So here is the Story...

I got two kittens 13 years ago from a friend. I told her I wanted to two males, and I did not care what they looked like, just that they needed to be males. So I go and pick up the two boys, one a very pretty tiger stripe, black with gray and brown stripes, circles, and one all white with little bits of orange.

I bring them home, I had no idea as want to name them, and…

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed…

A Ring, a Kiss, and a Name

Have you ever sat down and thought about your wedding? Like really thought about all the little details?

If you're married, I know you must have. If you're engaged, you probably have. But I am neither of those. Though, I guess I could say I'm pre-engaged, because we have talked about it and we are planning on getting engaged and married within 2-4…

Our son...

Our son left January 4th for boot camp.  Letting go was the hardest thing I ever had to do.  The endless emotions that I swore I'd never manage to survive.  He had gone through so much that I thought I understood, but I know now that I will never fully.  He pushed through like a true man.  He complained none, did what he had to do.  I spent so many nights crying missing him.  So many days putting on that strong face, but was simply dieing inside.  I stalked the mailman and wore my cell phone as… Continue

Can't we just jump?

Lately it feels like nothing else matters but what's between he and I. It feels like the only things I look forward to are his next call and getting to be in his arms and him getting down on one knee and asking me that question. There's a lot more going on in my life, and yeah a lot of it is good too, but I care more about him than anything.

Some days I just want to quit my life and go to wherever he is. Which is stupid. I have so much going for me, and I have so much to do still.…

Do you ever feel....

Hey N4M,

So lately I feel like my marriage...or maybe just me, is in a rut. I feel like we are stangnet. Like everything is standing still and there is no movement anymore. We say the same old things and have the same fights and honestly, dont have much to say at all. I feel like we are just going through the motions of marriage but not indulging and living in those moments. My husband leaves on deployment in 2 months and I am honestly looking forward to it. Not because I…

this boy

This boy is enjoying his last days of childhood.
He mows lawns and sings in church choir.
He plays X-box and hangs out with his girl.
He teases his little brother
and tells me he loves me.
I can not imagine being 18 years old and making such
a major decision. He has signed up
for 6 years of…

Day 47 - call #2

ok technically this is call #3, but #1 was the "I'm here" call.  Call #2 only lasted like 2 minutes...seriously, actually it was less than that.  So call #3 was today, on day 47 since my son left. He sounded great!  We were all home so put him on the speaker phone!  Best invention ever, even though you have to share the call with everyone, you don't have to repeat everything their telling you to everyone.  He was only able to talk for 5 minutes, but it was fantastic to hear his voice & very… Continue

Hello mom on countdown

My son has been in bootcamp 4weeks tomorrow, he is my one and only as well.  I also raised him by myself as well.  We just about did everything together, I am definitely feeling your pain.  However I am doing much better than I thought I would.  I contribute that largely to prayers from my friends, family and church family as well.  I think about him everyday and I pray for him everytime he crosses my mind.  I have actually spoken to him and received 2 letters so…

Hi!

My name is Maria and my son left for boot camp yesterday.  I was told about this website by my son's recruiter and I hope I will be able to communicate with other mother's of children who are in the Navy.  My husband and I have four beautiful children.  Our oldest and only son enlisted last fall.  We also have three daughters.  I knew the day was coming when he would leave for Great Lakes and though I tried to be strong yesterday I could not stop from…
