Memorial Day and its importance to me!

I have always been proud of all the past and present servicemen and servicewomen and have always honored them in any way possible. Now, I have a different appreciation for the servicemen and servicewomen since my three children are part of the Navy. My daughter, Samantha, is a reservist, my older son, John, is full-time SARs and deployed now and heading overseas, my younger son, Matthew, is a DEPPER and ships out in July. Any time a news broadcast talks about the military, I stop in my…

Would my daughter get Medical or General Discharge i

My daughter may be separated from Navy Boot Camp due medical injuries. She is currently in Ship 6 recouping.

If she is separated, does anyone know if it would be a Medical or General Discharge?

She told me she may also choose to come home to recoup and then go back at a later time to Boot Camp. As a mother, I am not sure this is a good idea as I know she is skeptical that she may suffer the same injuries or worse.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially about… Continue

Daughter getting different diagnoses

I have some more questions. I heard from my daughter, she now has a

different diagnosis. First it was stress fracture of neck of femur

(shown by xray), then MRI was done and was inconclusive but she may

need surgery. then the latest was bone scan and she was told she would

not need surgery, there were no stress fractures or breaks but stress

reaction to her leg bones. She has yet to be seen by an orthopedic

doctor or any doctor.

Today she got to call me and… Continue

ANYONE ELSE ON SHIP 13 DIV 239 PIR JULY 09, 2010??

Got our letter yesterday so we can now write to her. Let me know if anyone out there has the same address??

A lady overheard me in the dentist office this morning talking about my daughter in boot camp. She stopped me on the way out and said she had been in the Navy as well. Then, she prayed for me and for my daughter. Made me cry. What a blessing to have people around who are so caring!

Jobs on Base?

If I go to school and get my degree, to be a Medical Assistant, can I still work on Base? or is there any way I can work on base, and that way if my man and I end up moving in a year or two, I'll still be able to have a job no matter where we go?

How does that work out? If anyone has had to move around, a lot for their loved one, can you help me out with this ? I'm just curious as to whether I can have a stable career, or if it's going to be hard for me to find a job anywhere I go, IF… Continue

When going on leave?

My question is when our sailors put in for leave to come home do they get any kind of military discount or do they have to pay the full price of the plane ticket. Some of of sailors are halfway around the world and it does cost a pretty penny if you know what I mean. Also are they able to catch a military flight on those big cargo planes. Hope someone can answer this question. Thanks again.
