can't wait :)

It's been 10 weeks to be exactly without my husband. I truly miss him and since the day he left I started counting the days for his return...now o only have to wait 3 more weeks and I'm exited and anxious and happy because he will be here hopefully for his birthday. I'm sad at the same time because he's getting deploy right away so he will only be with me for a couple of weeks, but at this point I only want to see him and just wrap myself around his arms.

My First....

Hi, my son left for Great Lakes one week ago today and this has been the hardest week of my life.  I knew it would be hard but WOW!!!   Didn't think it would be this hard.  I have sat and cried, been mad at myself for letting him choose this path, and mad at myself for making the call to the recruiter.

Don't get me wrong, I am very, very, proud of him and stand behind him 100%.  He has wanted to do this since the 6th grade.  I have always told my sons that what ever they wanted to…

Box, form letter and a call!

The last few days have been good ones! I got the box full of dirty clothes! and then the next day I got the form letter with my sons address and he is in Ship 04 Division 287 and then on Saturday Morning I got the surprise of a lifetime and got an early phone call! We got to talk for quite a while and it was so amazing to hear his voice on the other end of the line! He was so calm and really sounded great. He is looking forward to some more "meat" to the training- says he's kind of sick of…

Our Daughter left for Bootcamp 2 days ago

Our daughter left for bootcamp on Wednesday and will say this is one of the hardest things a mom/parent can go through.  My husband and I know it will get easier but these first few days are sooo hard.  She just graduated high school and now has left for a wonderful new experience.  We are grateful for our son that is still in high school and plays football.  This has helped as it keeps us busy.

I came to this page and so far am soo happy.  With everyones questions and responses, I…

Orders to USS Iwo Jima, what to expect?

I'll eventually be heading out to the ship USS Iwo Jima and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me of what to expect while on that ship. Or if you've had a child stationed on the ship, how often were they deployed. I'm worried that I would never get to see my family if we deploy often.

Visiting Nuke school

My daughter will be in A school for Nuclear Field, and we are going to go there for our anniversary.  I know she has to go back to the barracks at night on the weekend, so wondering what a good place to stay nearby would be.  We are thinking of taking day trips with her into Charleston, maybe beach even and thought about staying there but thought it would be easier and cheaper to stay near her so we can get her back at night.  Any ideas?

My daughter went to meps today and because of a lower Asvab score she was toldthe only job that she qualified for was culinary. They told her to take it and they will find her something else before her ship out date in Feb 2015. Is that true? Could she possibly retake her asvab? Just feel like they forced her into a job she will hate.
