Day #2

Well i just wanted to write about how i'm feeling. On Monday night I separated from my SR. It was one of the hardest days of my life. Tuesday he left and arrived at GL and we said our last goodbyes through text. I had felt that my whole life flipped upside down. Those 2 days I couldn't eat or sleep, all i wanted to do was throw up. Tuesday night I felt like my body was getting weak so i decided to eat. Although it was extremely small, I ate and i felt proud of myself; small victories are…

Bootcamp Aug 27

Our son left today for bootcamp 14 minutes ago. I can feel his excitement and that helps me to be also. Im happy and proud for him. What mom wouldnt be. We all want our kids happy excited and reaching their goals. But its a bitter sweet day and a whirlwind of emotions for us left behind.

Bootcamp

My boyfriend got to bootcamp yesterday later in the evening! I'm pretty upset that I won't be able to hear from him for two weeks. I am EXTREMELY proud of him for making the decision to start his career as a United States Sailor. I still have a lot of getting use to for him not being around or having him to talk to every day, but I know I will soon be stronger and able to overcome this. I am missing him like crazy and I wish it could be October already so I can go see him graduate!

A very reflective day

My son flew out yesterday, August 26, 2014 to Boot Camp.  Yesterday was an incredibly teary day.  Today I am feeling numb, but proud.  If that makes any sense! I'm so proud of him for making the choice to join the Navy, and I guess...as a Mom, it makes me sad to know...that he will not come home the same person.  HOWEVER, I know it is the best thing that will ever happen to him, so I must be patient, and trust God on this.  It's His plan, not my own.  Prayers for all the other Moms here, who…

Birthday Gift

10 years ago my daughter celebrated her 18th birthday at RTC, All the Navy gave her was a new ball cap and a long phone call home. ;)

And 6 months later her fuzzy birthday photo appeared in the RTC Family Guide.

He made it!

Yesterday was a day of many first for my son! He left for boot camp, rode a plane, and did not talk to his mom and friends except through text all day. Lol. I got the call at 11:06pm last night he sounded scared but good! When I watched him at meps yesterday I could not belive how calm and excited he was. I guess as a mom I'm just being selfish ... :). Wish I hade a instruction book of what will happen next. Prayers to all ours that are starting the journey.

Update!

SR is currently on airplane on his way to GL. Im ready to get rid of this lump in my throat but it wont go away. Im waiting for him to land, hopefully he can text me one last time. Im ready for October already! Wish I had something that could fast forward time. I just want to eat and feel a little stronger. What do you do when the only person you talk to and spend every minute with is gone?

Day 1 of being apart

Today I got a text message from my fiance, who was awaken at 0330, with a short video message saying how much he loved me. He sent me pictures of his breakfast and him in line. It was hard to sleep at night knowing today was the day his life was going to change forever so I probably slept for the most 1 hour. I'm currently sitting on the couch just waiting for another text message or phone call. It's been about 6 hours so maybe something will come soon. I've been trying to keep busy but…

Graduation for Boot Camp

Our son is down at Great Lakes for Boot Camp. He graduates on Oct. 3rd. Could someone tell me if he will be able to stay at the hotel with us that night or will he have to go back to base? He will not leave for A school until the next day or the day after that.

Vulnerability; capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt

Along with many of you, two weeks ago today was the last I saw/talked to my SR. He has known for awhile what he wanted to do. He just wasn't sure about the timing. In Feb., he went and saw the recruiter, then came DEP, and then summer happened (fast). I was so full of pride and happiness for him. I was even giddy. I couldn't even talk about him and what he was doing without a big stupid smile on my face.  Then the time came. It came too fast. I wasn't ready. It happened anyway. I hid my…

Please help!

I am wondering, I am part of the navy prayer web site on Face book.. I have this lady that messages me about wanting to send my sailor a care package. Nice gesture but I am Erie about it.. Since I have joined navy moms and was told up front not to mention my sailors name or where he will be going, how do I trust this person is for real.. I do appreciate her wanting to thank him for his services, but I am scared to even chat with her.. Do I trust or not. And how can I avoid giving her the… Continue

I was wondering if anyone got a letter yet.  I still have not received one. But I got his address from his recruiter.  We received mail for him from the navy credit union and it had wrong address but still got to us.

The lump in my throat and the pride in my heart

The count down began months ago when we received the news regarding my sons official "deployment" date...8/22/14.  10 months...seems like a decade of time versus "boot camp" and "underways"

Underways prepare you ( somewhat ) for the periods of time you don't hear from your sailor. I became like a teenager with a school girl crush - watching and waiting for texts / emails or if I was lucky a PHONE CALL!! In my mind I knew he was never in harms ways since I assumed he was never that far…

any words of encourgement?

im excited like hell to leave and to experience something that i pushed my mom to allow me to do because the miltary wasnt something she supported. im very apprecitive of this opportunity to leave early and get the ball rolling dont get me wrong.. its the fear that maybe ill let myself down in standard, proving to myself that what i thought i could do, i cant. i am aiming for 20 yrs in this service, doing as much and getting as much possible that i can. im fearful of my goals and expectation…
