Have You Verified Your Email Address?

Good morning everyone!

Last week, Ning (the company that provides our Web space) introduced a new email verification system across all of it's networks. You may have seen the image below appear on your screen when you logged into Navy For Moms.

The reason you are being required to do this is part of Ning's attempt to cut down on the number of spammers that join their sites, including N4M.

09/25/09 PIR Weekend (Ship 06/Div 945)

Wow, what a weekend! The redeye flight was packed, it was harder to sleep on the plane from Sacramento to Houston because we were so excited about going. The flight from Houston to Milwaukee was good, got a good nap on that flight. Due to construction on the highways, we got lost (Cal says we were just diverted) for about 15 minutes getting out of Milwaukee, but got to Waukegan with no trouble, checked into the hotel early, which was nice, and got in a little nap after settling… Continue

What the sailors want

Since it's time to think about Christmas packages, here's part of an email I sent out this morning to some friends who wanted ideas. Thought some of you could use them, too.

My sailor just called and added to the list. He said on ship, they want jerky, Easy Mac, fruit cups. When deployed on land, he said neck travel pillows, wipes, and rechargeable batteries. I also remember sending him stuff for tooth aches and tooth putty for loosing a filling because he couldn’t get to the dentist… Continue

IF Rudyard Kipling had a Navy Mom praying for him at RTC

If your child keeps their head when all your friends' kids are losing theirs,

If your child trusts themselves when others doubt,

If your child keeps the bathroom cleaner than you do,

If you can wait for a letter and not be tired by waiting,

If your child can force every nerve and sinew to serve their watch,

You can talk with those who do not share your love of the Navy and keep your Sailor's honor untarnished.

Because you can fill the unforgiving minutes,… Continue

Doesn't anyone have an opinion?

I wrote this Blog on Friday and no one has commented. Come on ladies, doesn't anyone have an opinion on this?

I am saddened today as I read about the death of a young marine. But even more saddened that the AP decided to publish pictures of his death after his Father asked them not to publish them. Several months ago we had many discussions on this site about the publishing of pictures of fallen soldiers/sailors/airmen as they are brought home. I did not support that nor do I support… Continue

I am saddened today as I read about the death of a young marine. But even more saddened that the AP decided to publish pictures of his death after his Father asked them not to publish them. Several months ago we had many discussions on this site about the publishing of pictures of fallen soldiers/sailors/airmen as they are brought home. I did not support that nor do I support publishing pictures that have been published of this brave young man that died for our county. What in the world is the… Continue
