A Prayer My Son Posted Before He Left for Basic Training

My son posted this prayer on his FaceBook page a day before he left for Great Lakes. I wanted to share it with all you Navy Moms... and for your recruits and Sailors. This blew me away - what a special gift!

God, Give me strength, keep me safe and keep me wise. Keep my heart always open to you you for in you all things are possible. Watch not only over me but over all of us who need you in our new beginning.

That is so great! It brought tears to my eyes. When they leave it is hard on them too, not just the people they leave behind. luv it! :)

When I read this and knew it was posted for all of his friends to see... and knowing he's almost 20 years old (in April), I was overwhelmed and overcome by emotion and pride for certain. He's simply amazing! Thanks A's step-mom!

What a beautiful prayer, my Son left today for meps and tommorrow to Great
Lakes. It has been a very emotional day for me, thank God for all of our support from Family and Friends to help us get through this transition. God Bless all of these young men and women about to go through Boot Camp, may the Lord grant them peace and strength during the next 56 days!

My daughter shipped out on jan. 11. I got the 1 min phone call saying that she made it there and that she was fine and that she would call me in 3 weeks. Before joining this group, I was worrying myself sick. But just since the last 24 hrs, I feel somewhat relieved. It seems like your son knows what he's about to face, just like Asia knew, and that mental strength will hopefully carry them through to the prize!! Big Hugs and Stay Strong!!! Go Navy!!
