My husband and I attended our sailor's A School graduation today. I know I have seen several posts wanting to know what it is like and now I know. Today there were MM's, EM's and ET's that graduated. The graduation was at 9 a.m. but guests needed to arrive by 8:45 a.m. and be seated. There is a program given out to follow. The ceremony was an hour with several guest speakers. The Honorman were seated at the front and received their recognition. The sailors were frocked to Petty Officer as a group. Then one by one each graduate's name is called out to receive their A School diploma and applause was welcomed for each and every one! The sailor's graduating with Distinction were also recognized. They walk up front to receive their diplomas and shake hands with the guest military speakers. As in everything that I've seen with the Navy it was done 1st class. You are allowed to take pictures. You need your ID to get in and your sailor must make arrangements for you to attend. I am really glad that we went! Hooyah to all the A school graduates on this Memorial Day weekend!
