My nephew is deployed on the USS Hopper (DDG 70). He sent 3 different family members hand written letters all within 2 days of each other. On the envelope it had his return address. Most of the address is also printed on the PO round date stamp near the postage stamp. My nephew's writing and the stamp area both say USS HOPPER (DDG 70) and FPO AP 96667-1289. My nephew also wrote his division number, but on all 3 letters the first character looks different from the other letters. For his division he wrote:
DI01 then on another letter it looks like:
OI01 then on another letter it looks like:
His handwriting isn't the best for sure. But is there some way to find out if all the division numbers start with a "DI" ? It would make since to have DI for division, but I can't find anywhere or anyone to verify this for me.
We would feel better if we knew things were actually getting to him.
Will he get the mail with the rest of the address correct? If it is the right boat and name?
Please point me in the right direction to solve this.
Thank you very much!
