I just received an e-mail from Rachel she informs me that their deployment has been extended to 8 months! There are some good points...they will get to see more ports, and in doing the extension they will not be required to go on surge which would mean going out for 3 to 4 months in the summer. So chin up our loved ones are doing a fantastic job and getting the chance to see a bit of the world as well.

I got an email about the longer deployment also. I am glad he gets to see more ports but it makes it longer for him to come home. March is a long time away.

I understand completely Rachel is my only child and the seperation is hard on us both. This will be the first time ever that we will not be spending the holidays together. It will be different and a little difficult but I understand there is nothing we can do but endure it and wish the best for them and the experiences they will go through. Thank God Navy.com will be here, it's nice to know we can chat with other moms in the same situation. Hang in there :)
