OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

dressing for PIR
My sons PIR is 1-10-14 I keep hearing dress warm. I wondered how we should dress for inside..are we talking casual (jeans and nice shirt) or a little dressy (dress pants) or real dressed us (dress, suit..etc..) Also for the sarge's meet and greet what is appropriate dress?

My son graduated Memorial Day weekend 2 1/2 years ago and we about froze. I'm from Illinois and I'm used to the cold so dress warm!! Have a great time :)

Layers you can take on and off will be good. If you're wearing a dress, consider warm tights too.
Business casual, or as nice as "church". To me, this is a serious ceremony, so I'd say "a little dressy". He will be in his dress blues, you will want to look nice in the pictures with him. Not formal, certainly not sloppy, but no one would object to jeans.

I am going to dress nice.
This is one, if not the most important achievement of the majority of these volunteers.
They will be wearing and looking their best.
By dressing nice we show them respect and gratitude for their commitment, sacrifice and hard work.
The least we can do...

Yes, PIR is inside. The only time it has been outside was for the Centennial Celebration on 07/01/11. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.

It is inside, but walking over to the nex to wait for your Sailor is a good little walk. Wear what your comfortable in. Some were dressed like Church, some in jeans. I was there 1/3/14. I had leggings, slacks, hiking boots ( kept my feet warm), under armour, sweater, light Columbia jacket and a coat, warm hat, gloves, I was never cold, except when sitting on the bleachers at graduation, I had brought a small blanket, because I had read they were cold, but didn't want to bother taking it because I figured sitting on my coat would do it, only problem , it wasn't long enough, just layer up and have something to sit on and you will be fine.

sk8rmom, Thanks for the detailed info on what you wore. I have been agonizing the past 2 days on what to pack & wear for PIR and I'm out of time. We leave tomorrow morning. I tend to be cold, so, if you were cold sitting on the bleachers at PIR despite all the layers you were wearing, I guess I'd better plan on dressing similar. I'm from Oregon and we never see weather like what its been in Great Lakes. Looks like we'll each be taking a suitcase so we can fit all those bulky clothes in.
