So it's almost 2 weeks since he left home and started this journey we are all on with him. I didn't sleep much the first week but the fatigue finally won out and I'm sleeping all night now. I am having a hard time focusing while at work though. I find myself sitting in a meeting sneaking a peek at all your posts on my cell phone - absorbing everything you ladies say. I worry about getting a call that something has gone wrong - like the mom who's son has shin splints or the young man who is being told there is a problem with his ear. I've been pricing plane tickets and hotel rooms but I'm afraid to make reservations because of the possibility he may be held back or even worse, sent home. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to help him put the pieces back together. He has been working to be ready for this for 6 months, studying, training and planning. He's so excited about his future in the Navy. Ok - you're thinking I need to stop borrowing trouble when there isn't any. I'm trying hard to push those fears from my mind and focus on the positive. I got the box and the letter and he wrote a quick note at the bottom of the form letter saying "I'm doing great". I've read many times that no news is good news. I need to hold on to that and trust. I am so proud that I helped raise a man who wants to serve his Country and use the talents he was given to make a difference. I am reading everything I can and perhaps that is feeding the fear.

I may need to take a couple of days and focus on the child I still have at home. I know he is missing his big brother too and I need to take him out and make sure he knows how important he is to me and my husband.

It's so funny to hear my dad talk about when he was in the Navy. He and my mom live with us and lately it seems that daddy starts every sentence with, "When I was on board ship....". Apparently the Navy had made things much easier on recruits these days ;)

Ok I'm all talked out now and grateful for anyone who hasn't decided I am in need of professional help. This website/support group is a flotation device for us new Navy mommas and I'm holding on tight. Good night and God bless.

Make the reservations. It will be a message to you and to your SR once you tell him that you have faith that he will have PIR on time.

I feel quite the same way. =)

I have had some of the same fears as you have had. I think we all have. My son has just crossed the 3 week mark and we received our first phone call yesterday - Easter Sunday. We have already booked our flights, hotel (Navy Lodge) and will soon book a rental car. I have total faith in him that he will do everything he needs to do to get through Boot Camp. He has wanted this for a long time.

Relax and have faith that your son will be great and make himself and you SO proud! And I don't think you need professional help...you just need to believe. :)
