Does anyone know if we are allowed to give them a gift at graduation? If so, I need any ideas for my daughter going off to A school in San Diego.

Only gifts they are allowed to received at PIR and take back to their division is (1) a watch, or (2) a religious medalion. You could get something else, give it to her at PIR (and take it back) and then send it to her A school. A schools have different phases so you would need to make sure that you send it when she's able to use it. You have an exciting time coming up - enjoy PIR!

That is correct. It might be a good idea to wait until you get there to decided what she can have. My son wanted sunglasses. He had looked for a watch but didn't find anything he really wanted. They cannot have anything that is shiny, fancy, real large, etc. She will be told what she can and cannot have before PIR. You being there will be the best gift of all. Also I took a change of clothes for my son (t-shirt, jeans, underwear) so he could wear them in the motel room only. They are not allowed to wear civilian clothes outside. They have to earn that privilege. PIR is a great experience. I know you are so proud of your daughter. We are from eastern NC.

There is a web site called www.personalizationmall.com that has some nice military related gifts. We got our son a watch that has the Navy seal on the front and is personalized on the back. I didn't see it there this morning, but, maybe I was just not looking in the right place. Also, "coins" seem to be hot. There are everal web sites where you can find them. And, with the coins, you can get them for various locations, events, etc.

We gave my son that graduated last July a watch. I am going to take my son next Friday to the exchange and let him pick something out.
